Here is advice you may find useful...

Before you add the jumps lay the pipe and run it at speed until you get a really good idea where you want the take off ramps to be...allowing enough room to run up and straighten out before launch. Then place the take off ramps and run the track noting where you land most of the time when at a fast smooth pace. Shorten this by a couple of feet (safety factor) and use this for the placement for the down sides. Basically make sure the jumps are placed correctly for the flow of the track when run at or near full speed. Nothing is worse than a track with the flow all jacked up and the jumps forcing you to get totally out of rhythm...requiring drivers to endure sporadic fits of the "pin it or bin it" technique is not good.

Reward people for finding the flow and being smooth at full tilt...don't reward people for figuring out how to haphazardly stab at the throttle! That just pisses people off and breaks things. Also, make sure your down sides are shorter than the take off...and typically flatter and longer.

First off im loving this thread!!!
I'm actually trying to plan a build at my farm.
We have 100 acres (sorry for those who dont work in acres) so we have PLENTY of space, i could build like 10 tracks if i wanted with space still!

As we have cattle i will need to fence it off which i dont mind doing.. but as its like grass that has been there since god knows when, its not going to be an easy task to rip it up and get down to the dirt..
ill need to sorce some kind of concrete roller too.. which also wont be an easy task.

anywho thats my rant!
KEEP THE PICS COMING!!

Did some more grooming and laid down 400 ft of pipe. Pics coming soon.

OK so as my buddy said we did a bit more work today to lighten our load for Sunday. Plus we now have a better gauge on how much more pipe we need to finish things off. We will be sure to take pics of every step as we go, and cap things off with a video this coming Sunday. My guess is the track will be pretty close to done asides from a few tweaks here and there.

I'm real happy we went with 10' lanes. This was just a quick drop and go as we were close to losing daylight. Once the rest of the infield is down some adjustment will be made to the outside. We had 400' of pipe to put down today, and we made sure to get it all down

I'm actually looking forward to running this track. It's nothing in comparison to my local track, but a lot of sweat has gone into this. Think I'm gonna break out the new body, wing, and tires. Tires are still sitting in my box. Missed Fedex today so new engine not getting here till tomorrow I'm glad this engine never sold or I would have nothing to run this weekend.

Well we got some work done today. Took me almost 4 hours to make a 1 hour drive today. Needless to say it screwed up our day pretty good. Anyway... We got some work done and took some pictures for those of you interested.

Wish the track was 80X120, but it is what it is and we'll make the best of it. 10' lanes though is more than enough to have a good time with. Sorry no video guys... It got late and real cold in a hurry.

Your track looks sick!

I personally would throw another jump in the somewhere in the turns in the middle, just a litte ski jump outta the corner onto a table top, that would be sick, so when your racing, if its close, just shows who has better torque and bit outta the corners..

i have a track close to my house, but its VERY ripped up, it used ot be a BMX track, but its now used for RC, just ashame its all rutted out, its still fun though!

It's not even close to done. We have the step up going in along with the whoop section next. Maybe 1 more double and a few singles going in. With the space we have jump placement is a bit tricky. We also found the track to be VERY loose for us at the moment. Tomorrow we're going out to play with what we have built so there will be time for car setup. Saturday we will resume the build, and tweak what we already have down.
