Shop fun = custom height gauge
Being new to racing I was thinking most tools I have seen to measure ride height were big and cumbersome (& expensive) for what they do. I whipped this thing up in 30 minutes today. It only runs from 30mm-45mm which is more than enough for a D8T. Much smaller than most step style gauges.
Just turn it up or down to get the height you want. Also capable of 1/2mm increments to really geek out. Did I create a winner? Anything else like this out there?

Looks great, GHEA makes something similar, but I have never used it.

Thanks for the compliments and info folks. I cut up a $2 scale for measuring, used about $5 worth of aluminum scrap, and about 1/2 hour on the lathe. I am sure they could pop them out of Asia for less than $3 a piece. Not an idea that would result in early retirement, but fun anyway!
Never heard of GHEA before, but looking at their site is a machinists dream. Although al 7075 for a height gauge is a bit overkill!
All that other plastics stuff is, well plastic. I prefer something that will do some damage if you ever have to wing it at somebody.
Maybe I'll make a run of qty. 10 or so and get them anodized. If so I'll let it be known here!

i made a twisting ride height gauge over 2 yrs ago and they went down a treat locally and a few internationally, now a company copied my idea im not interested in doing them anymore so good luck with yours and hope you make a few
basically mine turned like yours, when it was twisted right down it bottomed out at 24mm and the 2 dots lined up automatically, every 1 turn thereafter and the dots line up its 1mm higher...the spring was to keep tension on the thread to stop unwanted movement,i also made them out of brass and used touring car springs for some bling colour lol.
good luck
