i would just like to say this: look what happend when Team associated put mp9 geometry etc on the rc8... turned into one of the best cars instantly and ryan and ryan(lol) said its much easyer to drive. they are basically the top 2 cars now... funny how its the same type of cars that win most of the time...

WIDE, a non centred engine, spread out chassis setup.
rc8.2 and MP9, even the d8 is a wide setup too. guess the basics just work

Mainly it's because they can,

Kyosho's have always been on the high priced side. Does that mean they're better? Depends on who is asked. Kyosho has kept their business model for better or worse. They charge top dollar for their stuff and people will either pay it or won't. It doesn't seen that Kyosho is too worried about their prices, though they do know it is one of the reasons people stay away from their products.

I think if they took about 200-250 off the top of their kit price they'd probably be more popular with racers. Would the products have the same quality if they did? I don't know, but Kyosho seems to think it would't. I'd own one of it was't that much.

It's setup and the driver. Anyone that thinks otherwise is fooling themselves.

i am not fooling my self. so if cody king ran a... Intech he still would of won? dont think so...

the design of the car needs to have the adjustability to even be setup the car...
look at the mp9 and rc8.2... they both have huge amounts of adjustability to change the whole car and the way it drives. does losi etc have that sort of adjustability?

I used to wonder the same thing. I couldn't understand how one pro level kit cost almost double what another pro level kit cost. Then a friend bought a gently used MP9 TKI2 and I made the mistake of driving it. WOW, I had to have one! Kyosho cars and trucks just work. Im now sold for life. They aren't perfect, but they are very nice. I ran associated for 3-4 years before I switched. I will never look back! Not sure about the ST-RR EVO, but the MP9's stay so clean under the lid. It's like an electric car, just use a little air every other tank and it looks like it hasn't been run. I don't regret going Kyosho!

Other than your caster adjustment, the Losi has many adjustments. For most, the Losi works out of the box without tinkering.
Kyosho is a company that never sold itself on the RTR market. They have been aimed at the racers for a bit longer than most. However, there is nothing on that car that makes it any more special than any other.
Cody was comfortable with his car and was at the right place to win it. Much like Hara is 2008. Had Cody been driving something different.... Well we can't speculate on that as it never happend.
Are you saying that if you drove a Kyosho you would have won the worlds ?

Its the driver and setup and luck come on now. The factory drivers could drive a tyco and win .

Teuful: Thats exactly why you dont see many kyoshos at all at local tracks with club racing at least . I would buy a kit from them if they did charge less than $800 for the kit The most il pay is about $500 to $600.
'
But if you like the Kyosho brand than thats fine with me.

this thread is great alot of speculation and hearsay i will join in
i hve driven losi ae mugen kyosho xray for me all were good except the kyosho it was great recently switched to 8.2 thinking since my son 9yrs old will be racing rookie nitro class this year i could save by running cheaper car well the 8.2 is good but not consistent like the k car and my ae
kit 550
rear hubs 80
different springs 30
shock pistons 15
older upper arms that dont bend 15
thats almost 700 for one car
parts wise is same on plastics k steel is little pricey but not bad
kyosho felt like new after 2 gallons
ae felt loose after .5 gallon
i am in process of going back to kyosho just need to get one more for e buggy
will not leave the brand anytime soon love the k car super easy to drive is wy i like them so much
no matter how overpriced they are
