I have found on my off-road cars, that the body itself normally drops the ride height by 2mm. So, I am sure the paint does factor into some of that.

These are some bodies I painted for a friend and had just gotten a kitchen scale so I weighed it before and after painting and the paint added 18grams to each body.

If paint was that big of a deal in off or on road, the factory pros wouldn't have $150 paint jobs, wraps or stickers.... just sayin.

Remeber the things done to Savoyas Mugens and Battle's AE buggies for weight savings? As far as stickers, $ is good to have

Default Body weight

What is the weight difference between a light weight Protoform 190mm touringcar body and a regular weight one?
Apart from the paint.

Firstly, I don't think that the weight savings from a painted vs unpainted bodyshell is a significant enough factor to warrant this much attention. Unless you're able to run super-quick qualifying laps within a tenth of a second consistently, then this is a waste of time.

On the other hand, there are plenty of other places where you can save weight, such as with titanium screws, or aluminum ball links, wheel axles, etc. I think that shaving unsprung weight is also more effective than shaving it off the (sprung) chassis, but I could be mistaken.

Like with anything else, you don't want to reduce weight at the expense of your car's reliability either. Just look at the IFMAR worlds in Pattaya 2 years ago: the track was so rough that many teams had beefed-up, reinforced parts and some were even running steel skid plates. To finish first, one must first finish.
