What to do in the winter?
What do you guys in colder climates do? Race *gasp* electric indoor, just take the winter off and wait for spring? Thinking about picking up a short course truck to keep racing through the winter and keep my skills fresh. I figure I started this hobby indoor carpet racing 18 years ago, and after 10+ years off i don't really want to take the winter off and get rusty, again.

Definitely race all winter stay with 2wd vehicles in the winter SCT and Stadium trucks. You will be surprised come spring how much your skills have improved from driving electric 2wd. A couple of pro's told me to do it last winter and I did. When you drive electric 2wd a couple of things happen. One you learn to be smooth on the trigger 2 you learn to set your car up for turns instead of relying on the 4wd to pull you through or help you recover from mistakes. I ended last nitro season running sportsman middle of pack at best . After racing indoor electric 2wd I started this past season competing for the win and taking it on occasion ended the season moving on to pro. I'm actually looking forward to electric indoor. Most of your top pros all started out racing electric as well one of the reasons why they are so smooth on the trigger. Truth be told thats where the elusive 10 minute run time hides (in the trigger finger).

Buy a mini or micro and chase the cat around the house.
Find a local indoor track, carpet or not.
Try and piss off the GF/Wife as much as possible so she is happy when you leave countless weekends come spring.
Try a indoor onroad carpet class.
ROAD TRIP to a warmer state!
stock up on parts over the winter.
clean and reclean every vehicle you have.
sit on the work bench staring at a perfectly clean ride wishing it was spring and wondering how long till the GF/Wife kicks you outside to shovel snow.
Icefishing.
and for me which might not apply to most of you. Hit up the indoor motocross track called the Sandbox every other weekend to keep off the winter flub.
With all that stuff winter might tick along a touch faster.
