I use acetone..you don't even need to scuff anything up..just put it on a rag, wipe and glue.

Methylated spirits is the same thing. Known as denatured alcohol in the US.

I always use AKA rims and the is prepared with something so never scuff the rims or use alcohol on them.

The only thing I do is scuff the bead of the tire a little and then clean it with denatured alcohol.

I use nail polish remover at home - and at the track I used some Windex on an tire coming off a fellows rim and it worked great. Simple green also works well (I was out of simple green at the time). I bake my old tires off @ 400* for 10 minutes a side (To save the foams) then use a sanding barrel to prep the surfaces.

So far so good!!!

rubbing alcohol and fresh locktite glue from home depot stored in my fridge.

I've seen more problems come from glue being left in a tool box in a hot garage or trunk then mold release agents not being cleaned off. Never trust old glue and store it in a cooler at the track.

I also refuse to buy ANY tires that are in the old plastic clear bags cough (old jconcpets stock) cough.

Those are the only tires that ALWAYS come unglued on me no matter how much I clean the damn bead SMH. Those things must be sanded or they ARE coming off. All the new stuff from them in the resealable bags are fine thou.
