I am going through the process of trying to justify replacing my RC8T FT with an RC8T CE. I have done the steering and battery mods to the FT and replaced the A,B,C,D plates, all of this is standard on the CE. I have looked at the spec changes and read the info in the forums on what has been upgraded on the CE. Other than the changes from the carbon fibre towers to alloy what other changes what else has been changed, nothing really stands out when you compare the kit info for both models other than what I listed .
Has anyone replaced their FT with a CE and if so is there much difference in the handling

Others may have different opinions but I would say your good to go with what you have, maybe go to the composite chassis braces, even the towers are an unneccesary change as you only gain some extra rear camber link holes and easier access to adjust the front upper hinge pins. Heck, even Ryan Maifield used the carbon towers on his truck and won the nats. Mine started as a FT and I have updated to the CE and not much is neccesary to win races, if you can win with one you can win with the other, but if you want to update its your coice, just don't feel like you have to.

Thanks for the feedback. My LHS has a set of the alloy braces but I did not see that there was muched to be gained from these compaired to the FT rods. The composite chassis braces was the only other thing that I was looking at fitting as a mate who runs a hong nor changed from alloy to composite to get a bit more chassis flex which improved the overall handling.

i would use the plastic chassis brace it will give you tons of grip on a loose blown out track i have yet to break one .

I think the the CE also has the composite radio tray.

If you already have done the ABCD plates and the battery box upgrades, you are pretty close to a CE version.

Now, replace the blue anodized braces with the plastic ones and this will be fine.

I've sold my RC8T FT for a CE last year and they are basically the same truck, at the exception of the few parts mentioned in the other posts.

I updated mine to a CE last week... I put the ABCD plates and the battery box on it. I am keeping the carbon towers... Maifield runs em, why shouldnt I?

I did put the aluminum chassis braces on... they look sick.


Other than that... its the same truck. Main thing is the battery/receiver box setup.

Just built my third RC8T CE and first nitro. Like the others mentioned the plates and center braces and your good to go. The carbon towers to me are way better and I have yet to break one. I only bash my truggies and even at stock FT form they can take a beating like no other. I found a ebay seller that sells the carbon towers for 16.99 each. There is no other place I have yet to find at that price. Picked me up 2 extra sets. Anyways I could go on and on with this rc. Your good to go with your setup.

one thing guys arent remembering is the the wheel hubs are different as well. the original RC8T FT and RS had the wider 89330 wheel hexes. the CE has the narrower 89331 wheel hexes

plus if you want to run a Punisher or Bulldog body, you need the Jconcepts body adapter for the carbon tower or the CE rear tower

Do you have a link? All the ones I found cost more than the blue aluminum shock towers.

I have a punisher body and mounts on order for when the bulldog body has passed its used by date. Thanks to all for the input
