From my observations from all the photo’s seen on the web of Richi Gomez’s buggy these are the following setup features I did notice.

- 10mm preload on rear sway bar
- 4mm preload on the front sway bar
- Looks to be the largest silver rear sway bar 2.8mm
- Front sway bar looks to be 2.5mm
- He looks as though he uses fuel hose either side of the sway bars where they are mounted to help keep the sway bar centralized, both front and back. He must run the sway bars pretty loose in the clamps.
- Uses centre steering Ackerman hole
- The photo’s of his car when it is clean shows silver springs and the action shots show white springs on his buggy, I believe he ran the final with the white springs
- RB C6 Motor
- Wing mounts are level, upper holes
- Alloy steering top brace (replaced the carbon fibre)
- Shock mount settings
o Rear shocks bottom outer hole on arms (pos 1)
o Rear shocks most inner top hole (pos 3)
o Front shocks bottom outer hole on arms (pos 1)
o Front shocks most inner top hole (pos 3)

And that’s about all I can help you with. Obviously love to know the diff and shock oils he used. I don’t speak Spanish so I wouldn’t know who to ring in Hong Nor Europe. If anyone finds out what diff oils let us all know, the Euro track is very simular to the track surface I race on in Australia.

Cheers Kev

I got a blurry image of his setup sheet from this web:

http://hongnor.oxatis.com/PBHotNews.asp?PBMInit=1

It seems in addition to what has already been said, he used 1'5 anti-squat and 2.5 rear toe in. A front arm supports. I can't make out the diff settings, but knowing his agressive driving stile, I bet it was something like 10.000-30.000-5.000 or something similar!!! heh heh!!

Here's some buggy and truggy shock setups for the new Super Big Bore 16mm shocks. The oil used in the new shocks is alot more critical to outside air temperature so that should be taken into consideration.

Buggy shock setups...
Spring...........silver/chrome front and rear
Shock end.....short front, long rear (screwed all the way in, but adjusted so left and right sides are equal)
Piston........1.4mm 6 hole
Losi Oil.... Outside temp 95+ ( 45 front, 35 rear) Temp 80-90 (40 front, 30 rear) Temp 60-70 (37.5 or 35 front, 27.5 or 25 rear)

Truggy (CRT) shock setups...
Spring...............Blue front and rear
Shock end.........short front, long rear (screwed all the way in, but adjusted so left and right shocks are equal lengths)
Piston...............1.4mm 6 hole
Losi Oil 50wt front, 40 rear during the day 45wt front, 35 rear if its cooler

Guys, need some help.
Ive upgraded (?) to the Piviot Ball Suspension and need a couple of things.
Firstly, the instructions only came with steps 4-6, the first sheet was missing so ive had to guess on the assembly for the most part. Can someone upload / email me a copy of the instructions for the PBS ?

Second, i seem to have a lot of play in the wheels. When i hold each front wheel and rock them top to bottom, the pivot balls are moving considerably. This only happens when at "rest". When the suspension is compressed or at full lock, there is no slop.. but when the wheels are straight on.. lots of play. I dont know whether this is normal or my assembly.

Any ideas ?

I ran those pivot ball suspension, I would have to look and see how it is set up but the big alum. nuts go in very very hard, you have to screw them in and really hold the knuckle, you think you are going to break it hard. tighten them down till you can move the ball in the knuckle and then loosen just enough for movement but no sloop.
The knuckle breaks at the tie rod end during racing, I installed the MBX5R knuckles and used the MBX5R tie rod ends with HPI balls in them. It is a hot set up, and never have broken a knuckle since.
My son (he is 9) is racing that car this year or crashing it, LOL and I still think it handles better than my new X1X. You can really drive it into a corner and still pull out of it, but the set up is freaky and nothing like the normal setup with the C on the front.
Let me know if you want some more information.

Thanks, yes the big alloy nuts are tight, but ive not had to swing on them, maybe thats where my problem is. I'll let you know whether it fixes it, or i break them !
I still have the C Hub setup as a backup of course..

Does anyone have the instructions they could scan and upload / email to me ??

Cheers

The paper with the parts is like half of them, and online they suck, so small you cant see anything and the quailty is so poor that when you blow them up you cant read them at all.

Look close, this is my boy a couple weeks ago. You can see the PBS on it.

Thanks for the advice it looks like i needed to get more brutal with the allen key and tighten the alloy nuts more ! You were right and ive tightened them to what i suspect would be too tight, but there is no more slop and everything still moves like it should... bring on the fine weather and i will start putting the PBS through its paces !
