i don't think you understand what i asked. does the one-piece mount keep the gear mesh together better than a two piece mount? just like the Z-brace keeps the mesh aligned in a bad crash.

I just built my ft cr and found a few things.
There IS an addendum in the front of the manual that addresses the differences in the brakes and a few other changes. I set the brakes up exactly as the instructions said(Measured the gap in between the calipers) and made sure the slots were on the passenger side of the car. raced it for the first time this weekend and the brakes were killer! way better than my K car brakes. Took the diffs back apart and the oil was filthy from breaking in the gears. no other issues Nice car!

macnkitty - I never really had a problem with the stock motor mounts so I didn't notice a change for the better (or worse) with the one-piece mount..it's just more convenient.

so then what's the point of a one-piece mount, how are they more convenient?

has anybody ever broken a universal driveshaft? front, rear, or center? i was wondering if it is worth it to get a spare set.

i broke 2 in 2 races! the rear ones mainly. the bal that sits in the outdrive sheared off. a little wear on the outdrive is what caused it. but all in all they broke

The one peice engine mount just stiffens the chassis around the engine. I think it's easier to align the mesh with it. You also know if a bolt or two back out your not going to destroy the spur, clutch bell or something worse if the motor shifts.

macnkitty - It's not a big deal, but it can be a pain to slide the locknuts inside the motor mounts and then put it all together just to take the motor mounts on and off. With the one piece mount, I leave the mount in place and take the motor on and off when I need to remove it for cleaning or whatever.

Thanks Aaron, but i actually have the old pro kit mounts, which don't require the nuts to go through. you just screw them in like the one-piece mount. i guess i'll keep my stockers.

BTW Aaron, have you ever broken a universal?

Personally I think that it was a waste of $49.99 for me. The new mounts that come with the Jammin FTE are just as good. If I had to do it again, I'd pass and get a set of tires.

macnkitty - I don't think I ever had those mounts..haha. I just started using the one-piece mounts, and never really thought about it.

I've never broke a universal...Adam broke on at the Pro-Series final, and I remember Jay talking about knowing they needed to change them. So if they're not better by now..they should be soon.

The one piece Mount from KHZ is worth every penny. You can have the motor out in no time and not have to reset the gear mesh. I did see somewhere Jammin was also making one soon as well??

Do you have to reset the mesh if you change clutch bells? from 13 to 14 teeth?

yes, the mesh will change slightly, so you have to reset it. since the CB will be bigger, it will be tight if you don't reset the mesh.
