Default Losi vented shock caps and foam

Does anyone else have issues with these? There is no way to set like more than a third rebound(if that) without them hydro locking when fully compressed. I've tried half foams "shaped" like drake says, full foams, quarter foams...it just doesn't work as advertised. Now my buggy that doesn't have vented caps...set the rebound just like drake says in the you tube video minus the foams and vented caps and bam perfect and EASY. I hear a few guys at the track saying the same thing. What gives?

Gonna seal the vents tonight(unless someone can enlighten me)...I just don't see the point in this. Every other car manufacture doesn't run vented caps and foam.

I've never had any issue with getting the rebound I wanted using the EU caps and foams. I cut the foams down to about 1/2 height and round off the bottom a bit. Build the shocks just like Drake shows in the video. Rebound is perfect every time, and better yet it never changes with the vented cap + foams. I don't know why you're having an issue with them...

Some others i talk to at the track are having the same issue.

My buggy that doesn't have vented caps never changes rebound...if i set them to 3/4 before a race and check them after a race they are still 3/4.

Some times or must of the time it takes a few trays to get it right. Built it, play with the shaft back and forth for a few times let it sit and test again, if is not what you liking, take the cap off and do it again.

Find some firmer foams. I spend over an hour trying to get it right with soft foam. I was at the point of throwing the shocks against the wall until i tried some firmer foams. Problem solved for me.

I posted similar observations about six months ago and I am staying with the stock caps now.

Yup sealed the caps last night with alittle jbweld. Problem solved. Shocks easy as ever to get the rebound you want and feel smoother than they ever did with the foams.

I bought the vented caps and foams and I liked it. Never had any issues. I did notice that you had to take a little rebound out of the shock it was like 90% rebound = 100% rebound. But worked for me.

Did u install new bladders when u put on the caps and foam? they could be worn out... Also heres a trick if u have a old purple tc tire full height.. then take an old 10th shock body put it in a drill press an cut out ur foams.. theres stiffer... thats how we did it in test before they came out...

Same here! Unless you keep the shafts new, pistons smooth, and fresh o-rings in the shocks the rebound sucks with vented caps. I'm not a fan.......to each his own I guess.

Agreed...that would be probably the only way to come close.

You Mean you covered the vent hole with or without using the foam. Why would U cover the vent hole were U still having problems before installing the foams?

I sealed the vent hole and run no foam like a stock shock now. Better for me.
