Default can't decide on new buggy?

hi there,

i am in need of replacing my losi 8ight 1.5. it has worn to bits and is failing on me. i am now looking to get myself a brand new buggy. i have 360 to spend and there are a few that have caught my eye. first is the xray 808 which r.c disco have on sale at a good price

http://www.rcdisco.com/part-info.php?partNo=XR350005

i know it is the 2010 version but is there much difference between this and the 2011 version? is there any problems with the car or things i should watch out for?

the second car is the agama a8 i have found it at about 360 but i have not seen much of them so i am unsure about this car

the last car and most promising is the losi 8ight eu. my local model shop will sell me one for 365 but i have lots of losi spares which would cut costs if i started all over with a new car and i know the ins and outs of a losi and secret tips

i am leaning more to the losi but i also like the look of the xray but not so much the agama, help? or are they other cars i should look at?

i only have a small budget for a new car but i have all the other bits like servos engine etc.

many thanks in advance

lewis

honestly if your wanting an xray sure the 2010 spec will work fine but the 2011 spec just out is on a way higher level with everything, your in the uk so the closest dealer I can suggest to whom I have dealt with alot is here:
http://www.rc-mushroom.com/shopping_...a&filter_id=37
take a look at the xray thread and see for yourself what people are saying about the xray 808 2011 spec:
New XRAY 808
cheers

Right- I have now driven both

808 2010:Loved mine, very stable and easy to drive fantastic car!!! Drove both the 09 and 10 spec.
+
Durabilty-Is amazing
Plastics Quality
Stable to drive
Great setup support online

-
Some had bearing fail in drivetrain-I don't not mind you
Parts are not cheap-But don't need replacing often
Sometimes harder to source parts
Not as many running 808's now days

Agama A8-Had mine for a few months

+
Fast access compared to 808
More Nimble-Better steering
Cheaper to run
Great support via Nemo
Getting more and more popular by the day
Nemo racing website for setups and support from top UK drivers

-
Plastics quality is not Xray standard-But no other buggy is!
May be tricky to drive for the newer driver
Not run it long enough to comment on durability but so far very good.

TBH There both great car's the 808 drivetrain needs more tlc than the A8 but is a very nice car. I moved to A8 just because of wanting something new to try, and with support from Nemo too and the Nemo Truck will be at most of the big events in the UK if you ever needed spares or so on. The A8 is growing on me each time I drive it.. Either way you cant go wrong!

im not really keen on the agama just because i haven't heard much about them and i haven't seen a huge amount of shops stocking parts. i was just curious about the xray i posted it looks good for the price but i am unsure how much of a difference the 2010 is from the 2011 as i cant afford the 2011 version because i have a small budget of 360

what about hot bodies d8?

many thanks

Where do you race buddy? Agama are pretty new compared to most companies.. but there putting in great results all over the uk and US ect.. they are fantastic buggies. And there still under most people's radar. Part in the UK.. MK racing..wheelspin.. je spares.. modelcars reading.. memo.. loads There are a few places to buy from in the UK you would not be disappointed with it.. most say it drives like a Losi but with better wear rate..

7th most popular buggy in Neo 2011.. that says something..

Mate of mind swapped from the EU to the Agama a while back and hasnt looked back.

I myself swapped from a 2.0 to a JQ (which I love) and the biggest hurdle for me to get over was the swapping of all the tools and spares I had accumulated for the Losi. I ended up selling it all on MaxBashing for a pretty good price, and buying a ton of spares for my JQ, none of which I have yet to use!

If I hadnt gone JQ, I would have got the Agama.

Any of you fellow racers run 808 or A8? if so ask if you can try it.. if you run losi now. The A8 will suit you more compared to the 808 in my view. As the A8 is very similar in design and handling. Not sure on the D8 only ever seen a couple

i do know a fellow local racer who raced a 808 but not a a8. i will ask him his opinion next meeting but i am starting to lean towards the a8 it looks nice.

it is now a two hoarse race between the agama a8 and the losi 8ight 2.0 eu.

jamiekerr14 can you post some pics of your a8 without the bodyshell?

many thanks

lewis
