mine are protek as well. I have not used any other LiFe brands.

I have a hyperion in my mugen, and its great 2 years and I think I balanced it twice and still works perfectly.

I use NimH and never had a battery catch fire, explode, let poison gas release, huff or puff or burn my house down. They work really well messing around and club racing and practice.
