i dont know if this was asked before ever but do you have to get the air bubbles out of the diff oil or is that just the shocks pretty much ?

so air in the diff doesnt effect the way the diff works ?

No, it is next to impossible (nor wanted) to build a diff without air.

Only if it is 100% air and no oil...

You don't fill your diff all the way to the top anyway, what is a small amount of bubble compare to all that space?

believe it or not though i actually got all the air out my turning the gears slowly and sitting.

If you completely fill your diffs with no air the diff will bind in longer mains when the oil heats up and expands. Your diff could even possibly hydrolock.

No air and fill to the top. You want it in the words of Drake (perfectly full).

To the top is too much. Diffs will leak easier and the oil will come out of everyhole when you're puttin it together.

Lutzinator had a nice tutorial on his website. This is how most people fill their diffs, and it's the best way imo.

some manuels of diffrent manfacters tell you to ethier fill the oil below the gear and just over the crosspins .


or fill to the top of the gears not compeltely filling the diff you whould be asking for a bad leak

TC5 Man, just fill them how the rc8t manual says to. The ae diff will leak oil out if you have too much. I have had lots of experiences from doing so. lol

i am im folllowing what the rc8t says.

i, am curious though why diffrent manfacters tell you diffrent way to fill the diff like for instance when i ran my losi it said in the manuel just to fill above the pins i guess some leak easier than others ?

He says, to the top of the spider gears. Then put the bigger gear in and wipe the excess oil of. Remeber when you put the diffs together, you always have a bit of play in them, so that gap will be filled with air.
