HOW DO YOU CLEAN YOURS?

There's about 40 posts on here asking this. Most are pudding matches about kalgard and a air hose vs water hose and simple green... lol. You'll see

I strip it of all electronics, motor, pipe..get the nasty off with a toothbrush.. spray it with simple green.. blast it off with the air compressor..hit it all with wd-40 air compressor it off.. reassemble :D

THIS WEEKEND AT OUR LOCAL OUTDOOR TRACK I SAW A COUPLE OF GUYS JUST HOSING IT OF WITH THE HOSE AND I THOUGH hmmmm WTF??? NOW IVE BEEN RACING RC FOR 30 PLUS YEARS AND NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THAT!

lol, ya I remove all electronics/motor and hose her down. I use a quality motorcycle bike wash as its safe for plastic's and anodized parts and use a toothbrush, hose her down again. spray a vinyl conditioner on her (303) and air it off. I also use to final spray it with mop and glow and then air hose it down.

Hahaha.

This is exactly what I do. Hose, simple green, and Kalgard.

I like to pick all the dirt out of every under chassis bolt, spray with simple green, air hose off all the dirt, and then soak all the suspension parts with lemon scent Pledge:)

just did this last weekend

- strip chassis of engine/pipe and electronics tray.
- Simple Green and small brush everything
- hose it down with running water :eek: was so filty I wanted to make sure all
the dirt and Simple Green are outta there.
- compressor air and let it air dry some more
- WD-40 everywhere specially all the joints and moving parts
- compressor air and let it sit for a while so the left over wd-40 evaporates and
your left with new look plastics :nod:

I'm a bit of a newbie so if anyone got any comments on this that would be greatly appreciated

This is exactly what I tried for the first time tonight, and worked like a charm. Took about 30min total and the buggy looks brand spanking new...this will definitely be my new cleaning method! :nod: Old one took about 3 hours and lots of paper towels...

both. degreaser to clean it. Prep n shine after its clean to make it sparkle but also it acts like spam, dirt doesnt stick to your buggy as much so it cleans easier

I just Hose em down in the laundry tub; Small bucket of hot water and tide with a parts cleaning brush; Blow dry with compressed air; final treatment with a Jig A Loo soaking. A 30 minute job tops when I care. Less than 15 when I don't.

Of course the radio tray and motor is pulled beforehand. And the hingepins pulled and wiped down soon after.

To me, water and RC don't mix, but to each his own. I use Pledge, a toothbrush, and an air compressor at the track. Every other event, I do a complete disassembly, use an ultrasonic cleaner with some greased lightning/simple green on all the components, air hose them off, then reassemble. To lubricate parts, I use a product you can find at bike shops called Epic Ride-it's a dry lube so it doesn't attract dirt as much as a grease. Works like a charm on universals, bearings, hinge pins/a-arms, gears, basically anything that moves or rotates.

Cleaning is really a personal preference, but I still think the guys who hose their cars off are nuts...:lol:
