when the 8ight and 8t came out, it was so far ahead of everything else. They set the bar for the next gen of cars. Drake and the losi crew had a huge advantage in my opinion. Now, I think the playing field has leveled out again, and we are seeing alot of people starting to show because of this. At least that is my opinion.

that actually sounds about right

when the losi was out there wasnt any other 1/8 buggy/truggy that had that design at all.

its just catching up now .

kyosho came out with the st-rr after the 8ight, and they updated as well. They went to the longer chassis and big bore shocks just like everyone else. They have one of the smoothest drive trains out. I don't think it should be considered an old platform at all. They have everything needed to compeat.

the Eight 3.0 is probably getting closer and losi would have a hard time trying to sell a new car if the older one is still winning so all the team drivers are under strict orders to loose at all cost That is a a fact .

The ST-R came out around the same time as the eight buggy in 06. The long chassis conversion in early 07 and the RR with Big Bores mid 07.

in the pros ?

i mean i know its the driver and they have good ones .
working on new stuff takes away practice time. once their new car comes out they will have time to run more.

Maybe it is just that everyone else is beginning to catch up to losi. There was a time there where losi won every 1/8 race under the sun. That's probably not something that will realistically happen for too long a period of time.

The way I see it is that there are a couple top drivers right now that have distanced themselves from the pack and it just so happens that they aren't losi drivers. Guys like Maifield, Tebo, King seem to have gotten a bit faster lately. It won't be long till the losi guys get themselves back into the mix(as far as winning races... They're still crazy fast and placing well).

As for the car, I don't think anyone can knock it. They are still winning a ton of races at the levels that matter which are Open/Intermediate class drivers. The Pro's could be fast with a brick on wheels. The more average drivers are what you really want to look at. IMO the losi cars are still very much among the elite.
