use a lipo, this will give your more speed, torque, and they are lighter

4s lipo. The only way to go. Get at least a 4500. And put a deans plug on it

I have a 4 cell lipo on my starter box. The pack is rated for 20C and 300mah and really that is plenty cause the motors are run for no more than 15 seconds per bump..I have used a 12V gel cell befoe but the Lipo is way better...Higher speed and all that current means more torque to turn those tight engines.

imo dont use any crap off that site(hobbyking). i ordered 2 4s batteries from them and also 2 2s batteries. one of the 4s didnt work when i got it. They wanted me to send it back to them(which isnt unreasonable) but it would of cost me the price of a battery off of them to send it. after only 3-4 months of use 2 of the 2s batteries have lost there punch and so has the 4s. i went to protek and you can get one for about 40 bucks and ive had zero issues with it, and they have a good warranty. I had a 2s that i discharged to much , i admitted it to them and they still are warranting the battery. Just remember you get what you pay for.

I have packs from HK and have zero problems with them. You can get a bad pack anywhere. It's the customer support that counts.

if your new, dont use lipo! ive seen alot of people burn up their box using lipo in their box when they are new. you can kill one and cause a fire very easily. if you spill fuel on it, there goes your lipo ... i ran a gel cell for 2 years and it worked better than lipos IMO sense i just switch to lipo. stickpacks work well too, have them in another box. yes they are heavier but i never understood why people complain about a heavy box, its not like your holding it all day

gel cell last forever on a charge, i usually did 5-6 race/practice days before even thinking about charging it.

just my opinion.

yep, have one thats over 2 years old, still use it a good bit, especially for break in...another one that has to be 4-5 years old (bought it used from someone that didnt even remember when he got it) but its not taking a good charge, dies in a day now. but still getting 4-5 years out of a battery that is less than 30 bucks isnt bad at all IMO

4s is fine and 20c is plenty. I have several packs that range between 2200 and 3600 mah and 20-40c that I use in the starter boxes. I reccomend at least 3000mah Espically if you start more than 1 car. 4s lipo is the only way to go.
