Obviously I do not know the original poster but I would hope at 14 you should have enough ability to build an R/C kit. It is not that difficult, seems to me most want all the fun without the work. I think you get out of this hobby what you put in it and I'm not talking about money, just effort. It's the same with setups, which kits to get and driving, it seems most want someone to tell them how to do it and don't want to take the time to learn or try to figure things out on there own. Anyone on here can build a kit if you apply yourself.

The only place I would be able to ask for help is a forum because my dad doesn't know very much about them because he never had an RC car and the nearest hobby shop is 100 miles away but there is a track about 25 minutes from my house so I think I could build a kit if I put some effort into it and use this forum for any of my questions so I am leaning toward the kit.

I definatly pushed for the kit but remember its your decision, do what you want, try and get your dad involved. You don't need a lot of experiance but a desire to accomplish something is a must. Whatever you decide to do have fun with it.

Also if you do get stuck take a break and walk away. Remember you dont have to finish it one day. Let us know when you get it and start posting in the Mugen thread. Good bunch of guys there that will help.

Well put Mr. Soap....Sometimes when you get tired, or frustrated it's best to walk away for a while, even til the next day. It's not race...

Great advice....

and to Mr poopy pants, way to motivate the kid.
