Basically make nice benches/tables big enough to have it all in one area when wrenching.

There are a couple of older threads in this forum with pics of pits and work shops. I posted these in one of the other ones as well. Still finishing it up but it is almost there.

Nice! looks like a basement area. I miss those from when I lived in Chi Town.

Tall benches are back savers. Good Lighting and storage.

I did 2 4x8 sheets of white peg board down one wall.

I have to find the finsihed pics but look around here and there are tons of ideas of how to spend your money.

I can tear down 3 vehicles at one time and still have room.

The neatest thing that I enjoy are 18" magnetic blocks that I found at lowes. I have them on the front of the shelves above my long table and they are great for sticking tools too.

Buddy here found a 6 footer at a restuarant supply place for knives and such,

My basement is just like that. Looks like I know what I'll be doing in spring time!

Thanks for the inspiration.

I'm working on my garage workshop right now as well. Here are some requirements I've put together:
1. Multilevel workbench. Sections at 36" (lower chairs), 48" (higher workbench stools), and 60" so my truck can fit under.
2. TV- I have a 32" LCD that has been sitting unused in my office upstairs.
3. Lighting. Suspended flourescent tube lighting.
4. electrical outlets- These are a MUST. Right now, there's only one in my garage, outside the garage door opener. On the other side of the wall is my kitchen. There are outlets ever 3'. Hopefully I can have an electrician tap in to those.
5. Storage. Plan for an organized way to store cars, parts, etc. I'm integrating shelving underneath parts of the workbenches.
6. Air compressor. This speaks for itself.
7. Sound system. 'nuff said.
8. girlie calendars. VP fuels ones work the best.

Counter space and storage you can never have enough. I but out a space this summer and went with 10 ft of counter space if it was double that would be fine. I need tomoit up some slatwall but I'm having a prob finding it.

It is just regular slat wall boards. You can get them at Home Depot in 4 x 8 sheets. It is more expensive than the peg board, but I like it better.
