Who else gets the Jitters when Racing.????
I have two problems to overcome .
One is or was watering eyes ( Been told to blink More) this really helped.:D Now the other one is Driving jitters. (shaking like a leaf) when racing. Who elsr suffers from this. Im not new to racing but have had a 2yr break. Not sure if this always happens to me but im sure it affects my racing. Any advice apart from drinking LOL.:lol::lol::lol::lol: Thanks |

I get them when I'm in the lead or shooting for it. I always race my ass off when playing catch up. When I used to race motocross everything would go away after the holeshot but not when I race RC. I guess I'm hoping with more time hopefully winning I start to relax. If not I'm gonna check into some drugs,lol

Sometimes my legs get really shaky hahahaha :lol::lol: But I was told to chew gum and that didnt help that much it helps when your running all by yourself if you have like 1/2 lap lead then I seem to drive my cleanest :lol:

only when i'm in the lead. slow breaths help, talking helps too. just drive to have fun, if you are nervous you are being too serious.

I sometimes put one ear bud in and rock to my fav tune.And chewing gum does help me.Don't sweat it everyone gets them at some point.

also, i do talk to others on the drivers stand, that seems to help!

LOL Im surpised to see a post on this topic. But intersting to hear what others say / do.
Jitter / nerves.. HELL ya!! thats why I race, cuz when I feel like that is when I know I have my work cut out for me (best competitors around show up) and this is why I race, cuz I like to be challenged. Personally, o dont really care if they ever go away as I like the feeling of having to work for a win but when i do have them i try to remind myself to: 1. Stay focused on clean laps, not fastest lap! 2. breath normal, it helps concetration by keeping adrenaline lower and oxygen levels stable. 3.relax, keep knees bent, dont death grip the transmitter. 4. try to look ahead / up track for trouble to avoid getting caught in someone elses mess. 5. have fun, after all that why I am there. I have found that I tend to neglect the small things on race day like food / water so i try to stay on topof that stuff when I can. After all, when I feel good i drive good. Im sure most will agree on that 1 :) |

I think all of us gets the jitters specially in a competitive environment. Its how you handle it. I usually do get them at the start of a race making me drive bad. But on long mains, I am usually comfortable already.
It helps also that you dont mind what position you are in just drive clean, no mistake and have fun. Works for me. Just enjoy the race. |

That's something that will subside with experience, but I really don't think it can ever really go away completely. That feeling is what racing is all about. It is part of the rush that comes from doing what we do. It is human nature to be a bit nervous when you're under pressure to perform even if that pressure comes from within yourself. I think the only thing you can do is to try and focus just on your driving and not on anything else. If you can zone the rest of it out it is a lot easier to stay calm. The biggest thing is to remember that you're doing this for fun and even though we all are racing to win, in the end it comes down to having fun. If your nerves are taking the fun out of it, you need to do some thinking. Race as much as you can and eventually the nerves will subside.;)
