I am still very new to the 1/8th scale truggy racing and at my local track today I noticed that my truggy tends to bottom out when hitting the face of the first jump and back side of the landing area.

I put in 60 Losi oil in the fronts and backs, but no help. The truggy is a Hot Bodies Lightning so I know it is a heavy one.

Do I need to try a different weight shock oil or a different spring on the shocks. Your help or suggestions is appreciated.

Runninf off-road on very hard clay. Rough course.

Both stiffer springs and heavier oil will help from bottoming out.


Check your ride height also. Just drop the truggy from a couple feet onto a flat surface . A good starting point for most vehicles is to have the f/r arms close to level ( horizontal).

If I drop my truggy from a couple of feet the thing bottoms out and smacks the ground... This is kinda new to me so what springs and shock oil would you guys recommend?

Look up setting your shock rebound on youtube. Adam Drake has a good video that should help you out.

set the arms level....bottoming out is normal...nothing to worry about

Is your truggy new ? From what i've heard the hot bodies truggy shock springs get weak after a few gallons . Also set the ride height according to the setup sheet . These cars are designed to use all the suspension so it may be normal . If it is handling good then i wouldn't worry about it .
