Default New to Nitro, What to get

I want to get into nitro RC. I've been looking online for RCs and cant decide what ones are good or bad. I'm going to use it off road just for driving around, or on a track I could build.
I found an Exceed Madwarrior racing edition for 285 with a starter kit on nitrorcx.com
My budget is under 300 for everything. Local hobby shops are out of the question there aren't any where I live, and I would rather not buy used unless there's a good deal on a lightly used one.

Any help on what to get would be great.
Thanks

In my opinion it would be worth going a little over the $300 mark up-front for good equipment, because in the long run you will pay that much keeping it running.

If u feel like u r not going to race ,just go to some of the online store and pick a RTR buggy .I think Kyosho ofna has (RTR= ready to run).Towerhobies.com or amainhobbies.com.They will tell u what else u need beside the actual buggy...

I'd like to get 1/8th, not 1/10th. The inferno Neo looks good but I'd like to stay under 300 including everything that i'd need to run it minus fuel.

Sorry to say but you R not going to find anything way under 300$.300$ is the very bottom price for a RTR .There is simply not much joices .Even what Pitpop posted(Pitpop is the father of Cody King the curent 1/8 buggy WC)Out of stock. So that's mean people buying as candy....So may have yo wait anyway ...

How about OFNA Hyper 7 or Ultra LX-1. Their both sub-300. OFNA is a good brand right?

I would probably go for this Ofna. It appears to have a C-hub design which I prefer.

Be aware that most of these RTR's come with an AM radio, which is subject to interference. They can be upgraded at any time. Down the line, you'll probably want to get rid of the pullstart and go to a starter box.

Spend more and get something that'll actually work. You'll have to buy nearly everthing twice with that Ofna.

In 6 months:
-radio:gone
-servo:broken
-4 set of tires: bald
-engine: pickle scented toast
-pull start: broken 4times
-50 blown glow plugs

1/8th scale starts at $1000, and that's not even close to alot. Most racers have $3000 easy into this class alone.

This RTR is hardly what I'd call good and it's 3 times the cost:

Bottom line: Your better off having fun in another class if your on a budget. 4x4 SCt or 2wd SCt for example.

Take it from someone that works on nitros for a hobby shop and races. If you are going to spend only 300.00 buy Ofna lx1 and STAY AWAY FROM EXCEED! Just my opinion though.
