Thats a good point. The Durango gives sticker shock to some. its up there in Kyosho stupidity range. Look closer at parts cost thou. I was floored to see a spur gear is only $19.00. springs are $8.00 and a pair of arms are like $12.00

Its not terribly expensive to own like an MP9 homeless edition.

I havent looked into the parts cost on THE Car yet.

I was 60/40 in favor of the car before seeing THE Pic...
Now i'm seriously looking into the Durango...
Like most people i regarded the Durango as a pretty car and the JQ car as the Racers ride I still think THE CAR is the most efficient design but that shaft Will be THE problem...

I did the new car thing with the Serpent and went through the servo stuff but the Serpent ended up being one bad ass ride. Now I am going to try the JQ and if it lacks I will just get another 811. I have tried them all and your list should be JQ, Durango, Serpent, or MBX-6!!!!

hands down the snake is the car to run it can be set up for smooth drivers or all the way down to truggy finger straped drivers

serpent also has a great race team for set up help and most of them are on rctech

So how does the car and the Durango stand up to the serpent,
That is the two cars we are talking about!!!

and we wont even get into the great race team and there PR skills

What is the big deal about these new buggys? are they going to be any better than a mugen, xray, losi or any other top name?

can some one lay out the crazy new features that they have? I seen a new Durango tonight.. pretty nice looking, the main thing that seemed "new" was the wing and the way the chassis was thicker but milled alot more..

I bought the DNX408 because, from the pictures I saw, it looked far better quality with a better engineered loook.

No doubt the fastest racers will win no matter what they are driving to a point, but for a club racer like me I wanted something that looked good, responded well, and didnt need a back up of spares for breakages like my LOSI 2.0! The chassis on the 408 trully is a work of art not to mention the innovation elsewhere.

I feel I have picked the right car and I am sure others will say different...

I like the diff access on the Durango. You pull a few screws and just the diff comes out. The rest of the front or rear clip stays intact on the car. One thing that I have noticed is that the Durango seems to like thicker oils. I'm use to the usual 7-5-3 or 5-5-5 in the buggy and some people are reporting 15 or 20 in the front. I will get to test it soon for myself.

This is a hard one to gage as Durango are using cts and others have used weight. I have been told that 10,10,3 is pretty good.

This subject has gotten out of hand.

The point comes down to personal preference.

But how can we all jump to conclusions when no one has done an in dept comparison of any of them.

JZE check the "The car" thread. JQ explains it.

On paper Id have the car or the serpent. mostly because i can interact with the product designer (jq) (billy easton) and they can explain how and why they did a certain thing.

I have yet to see the 8ight designer (and I drive losi) on the forums explaining and responding to the end consumer's question.

Lets just wait it out until we see these on the track before we jump to a conclusion.

My MP9 is the exact same way. Never had one pop out; Ever.

To answer the question of the thread, I would go with THE Car. The price point is a bit more appealing.

Later;
Cory.
