Taken from Neobuggy: Small fragments of aluminium were found in Renaud Savoya's fuel tank whilst warming up his engine, these foreign objects around 100 of them we are told cannot have come from the fuel tank. A very unfortunate incident but one that has happened and is known as Sabotage.

Its strange they are posting this as being on warm up when the hype started right after his semi main and well before the finals were even listed.

The pieces of aluminum that they are showing in the pics are pretty good size. No way a piece that size can make its way from the tank to the carb.

The particles they showed out in the open are hard to size, but the particle they showed in the carb nipple looked too big to get past the clunk filter. Strange happening for sure. It kinda taints the win for Cody King but it was still a great race.

You would have to show me how it taints Cody's achievement since its not confirmed and speculated an hour before the final even ran. Or maybe explain how that engine looks brand new after a 30 minute main.

Aluminum shavings can't come from a fuel tank, they could certainly come from a unchecked fuel gun or bottle with aluminum components in it. There were 16 more attractive/"qualified" candidates for sabotage than Savoya too.

How does the metal get past the fuel filters, the 1 in the tank and the 1 outside the tank, If you ever seen pic of his car he runs alot of fuel line with a cooler and filter! so it hard for me to believe this is true!

Interesting hapening but indeed the main question is how..... It can not pass the many fuel filters and even that large piece sticking in the carb could not go through a fuelline.

If no fuelfilters are used (a possibillity) then it is possible his engine could have a failure like a sharp edge on the sleeve shaving material of the piston bringing it into the fueltank by the pressure line.

It just cannot get passed the filters. NO WAY IMO. Really small shavings (like from a grinder) maybe, but not machining shavings. The pic of the shaving in the inlet should not have been posted if they wanted us to believe it.

Not to mention, they said 100's?? Go lift the tank lid on you car and go to put fuel in it, you could not miss it.

I think they posted the pic of the carb nipple with the shaving in it for a size comparison. I don't think that piece made it's way down the fuel line and got stuck in the nipple.... Either way sounds strange to find that many shavings in his tank, but they would never make it out of his tank. They could however get stuck on the clunk I would imagine....if there were that many and maybe affect fuel mileage from clogging up the clunk as the fuel level goes down? Just a guess...
