anyone seen carnage like this before?? (pic)

so i bought a nitro stampede 5 days ago... got the itch for more power (yea i know the stock motor couldnt even keep the front tires down i just wanted MORE :lol:) anyways i ordered part number 4400 off tower hobbies and i installed a new 2.5r on it, broke it in, and when i started really thrashing on it, all of a sudden it locked up and i heard grinding. so i was like uh oh the diff just exploded or i stripped a spur... i go over to the truck and the spur was fine. then i made sure the axle shafts were still tight onto the yokes, and they were... yup my diff is junk. so i pulled it apart (there are 3 main gears) they all looked fine!!! WTF!!?!??! so i pull the big axle gear out (the one with 4-6 metal gears inside it) yup they were all shreded... wow this really bums me out because i dont know of an upgrade for it!!! i guess ill just order a new one...:mad::confused:

Looks pretty clean other than the one broken gear. I was hoping to see some serious damage..

I think the gear looks great. I'd say put it back in and do some real damage. Make it work replacing. You know..

Tear it completely up... :sneaky::sneaky::sneaky::sneaky:

Just kidding....

It is too bad these parts are not made of some good old real steel and not plastic. or cheap compressed powdered steel.

good friend of mine had a pede and he ordered a second diff and used epoxy and locked the other it was whillies on demand but with a slow throttle finger you can get it going.

When i was working at hobbytown usa last weekend.I had to fix the same problem.It was a rusler vxl tranny....and of course on 3s lipo with a newb.Well he didn't know how to control the truck i was guessing.These gears never have issues.Especially being brushed motors.;)

MalicousIntent 11-11-2010 06:00 PM

Odd same diff set up as the Rustler I have and I have put a 3.3 TRX motor and a modded O.S. .21 TM and have broke alot of stuff on the drive train but never the Diff ..
