At least hb finally got it right. That should have been the original car.

When you consider the wear that the mugen can receive the parts really are not that expensive. In 8 months I have spent less than $50.00 for parts that needed replacing and that is on 2 cars.

The drive line and the clutch last very long. Also note that I have only had to replace the shoes once in 8 months.

There are many great platforms to choose from. What I have learned is that if you are new to the game it really does not matter what you choose as you will be replacing parts. The better you get and when you learn to put your car where you want it on the track you will have to buy less and less parts.

The throttle finger is what causes most parts to break.

Also, by the time you get the couple little option parts for the Serpent (like the rear arm mount to get 3* antisquat, sway bars, springs, etc), you'll still come in under the MP9 and have a great car.

Like what most people will say though... it really depends on what you have easily available to you. I can be biased and say Serpent just like Jon says a O'Donnell, but it's really what is not going to be a headache for you to get parts and help at your track.
+1

The serpent is riduclously fast and extremely tough. So far after racing the season with the car, its awesome.

Most cars out there are VERY good. You really can't go wrong. Check out the SG though, if you have the chance. It's really a fantastic car, and quite affordable. ...and customer service is truly second to none.

Just for reference, a fellow team mate put the SG into the A-main this weekend at the 'Dave Mapston Memorial Race' in Spokane. He was up there running with the newest MP9's (which is a great car!) and Mugens, Agamas, and so on. It's world class, for certain!
+1, im really enjoying my SG buggy and truggy.

i have put about a gallon or more on my car since ive had it and no issues. All i do is tape my cvd's with electrical tape and im all good. Once im done racing i take the car apart and install more tape. Im assure they fixed this issue with the hara ride all that caused this is the set screws they manufacuted were to small i talked to Josh and he said it was a manufacuring flaw that wasnt at the most concern so was never really fixed 100% but mine are holdin up. Took my set screw out and red lock tighted it and havent had the issue since.

well for the original kit price they wouldnt make any money by selling completly upgraded. The cost of this will be more but well worth the investment. Why because this is a ifmar worlds winning car(lets hope for 2) and will have the stuff on it that made this car last that brutal 1 hour main at the worlds. The reason i like this kit is hb isnt stingy on price and parts even though it did win the biggest race. not saying the more exspensive kits arent any good but all im ganna say is from learning the hard way i will buy another new d8 over a used xray, losi, or mugen any day because used stuff ive bought was always junk. Also proud to say the first time i finished a whole day racing in a long time when i bought this ride. I guess my luck with used stuff is no good. My final sentence now lol, how many kits do you know sell there car 100% with all upgrades you can buy including hubs, chassis etc. for about 450(this is the price the hara d8 is ganna be around)?

Stick with one of the two dominant companies, Associated, or Losi. Parts availability is second to none, and the support is always there. I opt for Losi due to the fact that there isnt a new "mod" or "upgrade" to do to the vehicle every three weeks. Losi will just release a part, normally without a bunch of hype, and no waiting months on end for the "hop-ups". They are usually released pretty quick or without notice. Also parts are usually readily available at most hobby shops, other than Hobbytown. I think that is because they cater to the basher more than the racer though. Totally understandable. This is just my opinion guys. Please dont kille me here.

I cant speak for the truggy but I have a couple of buddy's running the buggy. It is a super nice ride and based on what they told me and what I have seen it has sick amounts of turn. They actually had to dial it back.

The only thing I have seen go wrong is the rear pinion gear however that was due to mesh settings. Other than that I have not seen any one of them break a pat on it.

i never once broke a pin in either the buggy or truggy, never even had one come out... the buggy i broke a couple axles itself, right by where the axil goes in the outdrives.... cost me a pretty big win too... but HB makes good cars and easy to drive, i just think they should make ALL axels 92mm, they wouldnt be so likely to break.
