Default Nitro SC Truck

I have a Traxxas Slash 4X4 now but i'm thinking about getting a nitro truck. I dont do any racng now but I have a track in my back yard that me and some friends race on for fun. What are some of your thoughts on a good nitro SC truck for rec play? I want something with good speed, handling and reliability. Thanks for your opinions in advance.

Associated SC8. Its the only way to go. Super tough truck, handles well. Drifts very good. Do not, I repeat, Do not buy a Slayer. SC8 is the only way to go.

traxxas is not a bad company in fact they make very durable cars however, The slayer is a piece of junk and the only other nitro sc is the SC8 unless you make your own...great truck and lots of fun to drive

the company is fine, but thier quality is bad. for e.g i can take any type of car of anther brand an same type of traxxas. for e.g firestorm vs rustler. the firestorm will outlast the rustler duralility wise, tmax 3.3 vs savage x 4.6, the savage obvously will walk all over the tmaxx.

source: i own about 70 RCS of all brands.

there are several other options besides goin to the sc8. wich good luck finding enough to make a class. hypser sc10 has a nitro version that is really nice, and the jammin scrt10 can be converted over to nitro very easily as they just used parts from other cars for the conversion, ie crt.5 motor mount, and x2 buggy fuel cell and servo tray is all you would need. all holes match no mods needed. kyosho also has a nitro sc. either 3 would be great for track or bash, but my choice is the jammin

Traxxas did release a new slayer, it looks closer to the SC8 in size now. It use's the Revo 3.3 chassis. Still i would go with the SC8, cant really do much as for racing with them since there is hardly ever a class to race them. But they are a lot of fun to drive.

My vote is the SC8, I love mine. It'll run with the truggies and the buggies on a good day, and is tough as sh@t! Mine isn't the RTR, I built mine using my spare RC8/RC8T parts, and threw a Clockwork modded JL 21 in it just for fun

I prefer 1/8 scale over 1/10, but if you want 1/10, then what Neal ( Maximo ) posted above is the way to go. I have to give Traxxas credit for what they've done to the industry, although I'm not a Traxxas guy myself.

I still disagree with that statement as I own and have owned numerous traxxas vehicles...anyway I forgot about the jammin line those are nice nitro sct's as well they're smaller and cheaper than the SC8 but I like the SC8 a lot

I have two SC8 trucks and they are a total blast. Most club racing will allow you to run with the truggys or buggys. One day I put my Go GX5R motor from my buggy into one and it gave the truggys all they could handle It was fun being able to run with them down the straights and I could always cut inside them in the corners

I like the SC8. Have a guy that runs one with the truggs and can get under them on every turn. If he put a killer motor in it would win most of the time. He said other than tires just clean it and run it.

Nice ride!! But I was wondering if you ever tried it with a .12 to feel a little more 1/10 scale. Been kicking around one these. As far as a .21 goes, I'de just get an SC8. So I'm wondering how this smaller car feels with a more "appropriate" motor, if you've tried it. I'm sure that thing will rip the tires right off the rimz if it wants, or possibly jump a house. I'm just looking to cruize around a track at normal speeds. Thanks for any reply.
