ROAR would never approve the cab-forward design!

I don't see how the marshall's can keep a straight face. Thats just hilarious. I would think carpet would be a must indoors, otherwise alot of dust and dirt would get into the air and could cause allergy problems.

The caravan race is a fun race that takes place 1 time/year. The caravans are sponsord. You need an electric or nitro car. The rules are simple very simply. Just race and it's forbidden to strengthen the caravan. You can only fix the caravan with the suplied role of tape

There are 3 prizes for this race:
1. Who runs most laps
2. The best looking caravan at the end of the race
3. Who jumps the highest with his caravan

For the astroturf. The carpet has a very high traction. We run very tick swaybars, stiff spring and thick shock and diff oils to improve traction and decrease griproll. Small pin tires are wicked on the carpet. Your car stays clean when running on carpet

yes most track here are astroturf now. Its not expensive ....its free when the local council are renewing the astroturf football and hockey pitches they have to pay large sums of money to have it disposed of . If you contact the company that is contracted to dispose of the astroturf they will happily deliver it to your track because they are then able to keep the money they were meant to spend on getting rid of it

we have been running on ours for 2 years now and it is showing NO signs of wear and tear. The jumps are as smooth as the day we built them because the astro is really heavy and holds the dirt together like concrete .

Even the 5th scale guys use it .

the surface is mega grippy in dry and very slippy when wet . very consistant and predictable surface and never gets blown out . maintenance is practically zero and cars are always clean after racing

here is our track http://vimeo.com/12920958

Hahahahahah cool to see that the guy's from the overseas loves this

Anyway i'am one of the organisers from that caravan race and for the 1:8th scale they are held on our club. Last year we had the tryout with it and also then hillarious reactions and even orders for those caravans throughout the whole world and they no have been shipped to Danmark, Australia and some other country's.

So we decided to make it an yearly event and this year it had an bit international tint since some scottisch guy and german guy joined it. So next year some guy's from the US maybe .

About the Astro ... like allready said we get it for free since they otherwhise have to pay for it to burn or dump it somewhere. Adstro has its advantages but also disadvantages like: Setups, Cars are build for clay or sand ... the car is getting more stress and we get things broken because the cars are designed for clay or sand. But luckely more and more manufacturers are comming with EU versions where they count on the astro.
Most ideal situation is an track with the cobo of the various undergrounds since this makes fun and makes setup verry important.

Anyway look at youtube and look for the tags: MVW CARAVAN RACE and you will find some more movies including some jumps with caravans

Greets,
Jerome
