I showed my buddy why not to tune by temp this weekend. With my motor on a great tune i ran 3 tanks on the track. I pull in to refuel and temped it. 260. so i filled it and did two more tanks on the track. pulled it in again and it was at 251. thats 9 dagrees cooler while running 16 min longer. Learn to listen to your motor and watch the smoke trail.

I kinda like mine for break in but after a half gallon it stays in the box. Sound and smoke after that.

I simply put some saliva and if it evaporates the saliva my engine is hot and if it dont evaporates and my engine is running well I leave it like that!! try it it's a good technique

I usually simply touch the engine head with my fingers and tune by sound, smoke and performance. I only use the temp gun when I doubt This is why I was asking what temp gun was the most accurate.
