Unhappy Car running when no throttle given!

I just got a new buggy with a 1.75l engine. But when I began with the break-in procedure, its wheels spun wildly even when I hadn't pressed the throttle trigger. My methanol : castor oil ratio is 5:1.
The buggy runs a few metres when kept on ground and then halts abruptly (maybe an indication that mixture is rich). I even tried decreasing the idling speed by turning the idle screw...didn't work.

Sounds like a lean low speed needle. the needle by the carb that is on the slide body...turn it counter clockwise 1/4 a turn and try it again.

Either that or the clutch is engaged when it should not be.

Who makes the engine and what is the model number? Maybe you can try going back to factory default settings and try it.

I'd check the trim on the radio as well. With the engine shut off, find out whats causing the throttle to open up without input from the radio.

this problem is too broad, you need a professional at your local track to look at it, or someone at a hobby shop could probably tell you what's wrong in a few minutes...

True, without seeing every part we cannot diagnose it here. For all we know it could be linkage or servo settings.

I have 2 trim dials on my control: steering and throttle. How do I check them?

turn on radio/car electrics/ engine off

steering trim..adjust till wheels are straight ahead

throttle trim...remove air cleaner and throttle slide should be in the closed position with a gap of no more than .5-1.0 mm

Depends on which radio you have. Most ready-to-run radios are pretty cheap and don't have anything other than the trim knobs on the outside of the remote. Make sure they are centered and then remove the air filter and check the gap. If its more than 1mm then its not closing all the way and you need to figure out what is causing that to happen.
