Default Need better starter box.

It seems that the Losi 8ight 2.0 starter box with the single 775 motor isn't enough to really crank over my buggy reliably. Is there a better starter box that someone can recommend?

Ofna truggy box with dual 775's A-main for around 75-80 bucks I think.

Ahh I had looked at that one before I think, didn't know if it was as good as the reviews let on. Will look into that one.

There was a post on here a while back and almost everyone likes this box. Dynamite makes one thats very similar with dual 775's as well for about 10-15 bucks cheaper if you wanna look at it too.

I have been using the same ofna truggy box on 4s since Feb 2009 and works great. I doubt you will get a different answer on here. That box is just that good.

how necessary is the 4s lipo? Or rather...how much of a difference will it make?

The weight saving alone is huge over the 12v gel. Compared to nimh packs prob not much other than it will last all day and not fade at all. I run a 3200 4s and start my 2 cars plus a few others throughout the race day.

Well, I have 2 brand new 5000mAh 6cell packs. I keep em charged and the reason I even ask is because I can't solder worth a crap so changing the connectors to deans or something would be a task for me

I'm not lazy, I just don't have a steady hand due to an old BMX injury. If it is worth doing the lipo on the box then I'm willing to give it a try. If the power out of the motors would be similar then I won't sweat it. I'm not that hardcore about it yet.

The dynamite dm5650's are rock solid. I have 2 of them. One setup for buggy and one for truggy. They are extremely powerful and well built. I know alot of people like the ofna one but i just can't stand ofna as a brand in general, hehe. Guess i'm just wierd like that

You just need a real soldiering iron. A hako 936 can solve all your issues and you don't even need the pricy FX951. Any hako will do. It will make you solider like a pro.

i wouldnt trade me ofna blue truggy box with the gel cell for anything. yeah its heavy but seriously are we that lazy to carry something for like 100 feet? with the gel cell brick i charge it every 4-5 races and dont worry about it. i dont trust lipos in my starter box for anything, ive seen a few go up in smoke....
