I dont think anything out there beats the OFNA truggy box.

I just sold the first one I bought right when it came out nearly 4 years ago....for more than 1/2 what I paid new.

I use 2 stick packs. Mine are 2400 Reedy packs and they last a couple weekends sometimes.

Lipos will give more power but I didnt think they were worth the extra money especially considering if you run them down to low they can be ruined. NIMH packs are cheap and if I run them dead they'll still charge back up.

I am running 2x Turnigy Hard Case 2cell Li-Po 5200mAh 30C in my starter box.
Low weight, plenty of power, last a long time and cheap at $23 each.

One thing I took notice to this past weekend at the track was, what people had in the pits. All the different pit carriers, tuning drivers, glow igniter, starter box. ect......One thing I noticed was starter boxes. There was NOT alto of Ofna boxes in the pits. Not saying anything negative but it was funny that on here most people swear by those boxes but at the track, not so many being seen.
I see more Mugen boxes followed by Losi boxes...

Starter boxes:

Mugen: Mugen Pro Starter Box BII 1/8 Off Road Starter Box (Gray) $109
Hudy: Hudy "Star-Box" 1/8 Off-Road Starter Box $102
Ofna TRUGGY: OFNA Truggy Starter Starter Box $95
Losi Universal: Team Losi 8IGHT/8IGHT-T 2.0 Universal Starter Box $85
Dynamite Ready-Start DM Universal Starter Box $75

These would be my choices and I would run with any one.. But me, I still run the Gen1 losi box for 3 years now.

One of the magazine test drivers at the track swears by that hudy box. I think I might pick one up for the buggy my ofna box is fugly and outdated.

I do however have that ofna blue truggy box for the truggy, works great. I use a 4s 2300 lipo and its nice and light. Can't really go wrong with any of the ones listed. Safe to say I never seen a starter box cause a race yet...(excluding people not charging batteries)

I Finally gave up on my Gen 1 losi box and went with a Ofna truggy box, I Cant believe how much better it is versus the Stock 550 cans. Modding the top plate to fit the losi parts was a little bit of a challenge but well worth it i in the end.

Lipo's are dirt cheap these days, you can score a 2200 4S for 20$ so imo Lipo's the Only way to go.

I have both a Ofna Blue Truggy and the 5650 Dynamite Dual-Start, and use both side by side, and can tell no difference (both are on 12v Gel cel) other than the color.

At one point Stormer had the 5650 for $49

+1, i like the looks of the dynamite as well, its got a nice black finish and is very low profile.

Will both the Ofna Truggy box and the Dynamite 5650 work with a Losi 8ight 2.0? I know they are technically universal boxes, but some people mention modding the Ofna box to fit a Losi.

Yes they will, i think the only reason he modded it was to use the quick change mounts for truggy and buggy, but i could be mistaken. The dynamite will work for both as you can easily adjust the pegs. On a losi buggy just be sure to align up the wheel on the bottom or else it will rub on the chassis. I had to move mine down about 1/4" on both sides to get the wheel perfectly centered.

I know for a fact that 22Racer is using one on his Losi 8 2.0

I've looked into the Dynamite but Stormer's sold out and they're kinda hard to find in my experience. I think I'm gonna get the Go one when I order my engine and just upgrade it to dual motors.
