I have a metal paint rolling tray. Im going to pour acetone in the bottom section and line up the tires in roller part. Then i want to cover it with tinfoil and let it sit. Will this work to remove tires? How long do you think it will take?

think most people put them in a old bucket or something and submerge them fully.. for 24hrs or so.. until they peal straight off

If you want to remove tires from wheels then oven is best way to do it.

150 celsius and 10-20 minutes and just pull tires from wheels.

So easy

+1 this works but if you want to save your foams cut the center of the tire and pull them out. if lets say you stripped a wheel hex and want the tire plus foam saspending them above the actetone in a sealed bucket works to. just takes a little longer.

Oven will save wheels and inserts. Faster and you can do it in your kitchen.

one problem with the oven method. SMELL!!! most roomies/girlfriends dont take to the burnt rubber smell that lingers around for awhile.

Don't submirge the tires in the acitone, its the fumes that do the work, there's also a thread or youtube vids on how to do this. I have 2 1 gallon paint cans with lids and made a wire frame to keep the rims off about 2 inches off the bottom of the can, pour about 1 inch of acitone, seal the can wait 24 hrs, and you'll see the glue is super soft, pull the tires off quickly, I found as the rims are exposed to air the glue will dry up again, you can repeat this if needed

for pete's sakes tell us where to buy the stuff, i have a set of PL tires with crapped out foams and really don't want to ruin the tires, i'm sure im not the only one with this issue, thanks for the info.

PL had a video on there web site of Atsushi Hara cutting tires with a nife right next to the rim so he could change out foams. I tried this method because I mounted a set of Calibers on wrong so I cut them at the rim and remounted and you could never tell I cut them!! So if you want to save a set of wheels get a good sharp hobby knife and take your time and cut around rim it will leave a little abit of rubber around the rim but its fine!!

yeah thanks, I looked at the debonder, did a google search on CA debonder and found that most of them are simple acetone, I have about a qt of it so I just tried it on a Losi tire that have, just poured some on the bead & let it soak for a couple of mins, it seem to loosen the CA with no problem, you just have to strech the bead a little to let the acetone get to the glue.
Also nitromethane is a solvent for CA glue but I don't have any straight nitro, I'm not sure that 30% will do the job though.

+1 on the oven. I also rub acetone around the rim and inside the tire bead after they are pulled of the rim. before gluing if you run some sandpaper (I use a drum sander on a dremel) aroung the outside of the rim and the inside of the tire bead, not much just lightly that glue job will hold so much better.
