Ok what upgrades are must haves for the 8ight 2.0 Buggy and Truggy? Which parts are worth their asking price and which parts should we avoid and why? This would be to build an all around race buggy or truggy, no bashing, strickly for racing. Thanks in advance!

hello,

raced my 8ight 2.0 alot and have more than 10 gallons on it. never had an issue or DNF during a race so i guess what am doing is good.
parts needed:
1- Alu servo horn
2- 8ight T 1.0 servo saver assembly
3- Alu servo saver arm
4- not sure of the name but you need the aluminum pieces that goes over the rear diff's outdrive.
5- i also got the answer rc shock spring retainers (the piece that holds the spring from the bottom) answer rc's has a longer lip so the spring won't pop out.
6- i use Hot bodies wheel nuts as they bite into the rim (i lost a wheel during an Amain because of the stock nut)
7- i use the 5mm titanium turnbuckles from lunsford for all 4 camber links. people say those are not needed for buggy but i better be safe than sorry. i saw many stockers strip.

those are my recommendations based on my own experience so please guys dont tell me i should and shouldn't have this or that. am helping out and dont need lessons how to run my buggy unless you are Drake, Truhe, Billy or Casey not to forget Integra, Losi racer, Zixxer

kwt pretty much covered everything. Although you dont need to change the servo saver assembly out anymore, they changed back to the 1.0 style w/ 2.0 spring not long after the 2.0 release

Those are 3 different chassis. The losi flex chassis which comes on the race roller, the bce chassis and the fioroni chassis. Theres also a matrix carbon fiber chassis that some like to run.

Good list. I agree with Casey that the steel flywheel is an absolute must. The best option money spent, period.

The steel flywheel because of the heavier weight will put the power to the ground smoother and easier, less wheelspin

My opinion is that there are very few MUST have upgrades. The buggy is damned good right out of the box. The only two that I consider absolutely necessary are:

1. Aluminium servo horn (be sure to get the one for your brand)
2. Locking wheel nuts (I prefer the ones made by Losi)

I also use the following optional parts but I wouldn't call them necessary. Most are to make the car handle to my taste and to ease maintenance.

1. Inclined 12 degree front spindle set
2. Quick change engine mount system
3. Aluminium rear diff carrier and shim kit
4. Losi high temperature fuel filter
5. JConcepts high downforce wing

As for the steel flywheel, I feel it depends on the engine I'm running. For my O.S. Speed, which is a top-end screamer, I prefer an aluminium flywheel with two blue aluminium shoes (green springs) and two composite shoes (black springs). For my new Orion CRF Alpha MTE, which supposedly has gobs of low-end torque, I plan on trying the steel flywheel with the same shoe/spring combo.
