There's a good number of top "Pros" that have a connection to MX

You will be all good. I think having some kind of backround in MX racing does help in off road racing as others have said. Most of the local guys that I know that come from racing MX do seem to prefer the 1/8th classes. Either Niro or Elec. From what I am told those classes have a closer feel to MX for them. I don't know as I never raced MX, just rode with friends on practice days back in the day.

They both do ride but dont race. Sponsors have alot of $$$ tied up in these guys and having them miss a national event due to an mx related injury would not be good.

never knew there was this many ex moto guys. Yeah my moto background really helped when i first started, i cant wait to learn more for rc. But going to all the pro motocross races this past summer Off Road Rc has really impacted it. traxxas has a small track for moto fans to try some slashes. losi sponcers team canidine suzuki. Its nice to see the two great hobbies mesh so easly. As for moto i will still ride my back yard track and fellow freinds but racen every weekend is done. And being a construction worker my body will probally be thankin me in the end. thanks for all the input guys. keep it coming.

I did the MX thing for like 12+ years as well....I sucked, but it was fun. Now the RC bug has bit until my kids get bigger and into MX. Then we'll probably do both!

Jeff Alessi also drives RC....

I raced Motocross for 11 years and I race RC now. I raced the NMA series with Ron Hendrickson like the World Mini and Ponca City, the CMC stuff with Stu Peters, Ascot, Golden State series, and all the cali tracks. Now I race 1/8 scale nitro and have a blast.

I gave up quads in 2001 after 17 years of riding/racing. I miss my motocrossed out 400ex.

Ascot... Your giving your age away, lol. I basically grew up at Ascot through the late 60's through the 70's and into the early 80's. It was for Sprint Car and Midget racing though. What an awesome place it was.

16+ years on 2 and/or 4 wheels and like the other guy said... I just don't bounce like I used to... But, it really helps to know the rhythm of a track layout and how to use it to your advantage with an RC car/truck. After only 6 months in the hobby new to nitro and been out for over 8 years. (1/10 scale electric back in the day) I think I'm picking it up pretty quick. I definitely see the advantage I have over people who just picked it up with no off road experience at all.

Once a gear head, Always a gear head. IMO

I have been racing RC for a year and half now.I have raced MX ATV for 10 years and still do every once in a while. I am 37 have won alot of races and have raced about everthing I could on a atv I have won two flat track championships with what used to be NFTRA here in Kansas. I have won several State mx championships at the in the pro class in my state and won 2championships with TQRA down in Texas in the VET 30 A class. I love racing MX as you can tell and have been to alot of states to race and I have been to lorettas 3 times love going there.
I love rc racing also and it feels a big gap I have now that I am not racing mx all the time but doesn't feel it completely.
And es I believe mx helps alot with rc because you understand alot of things it has taken some people years to like jumping is one I see all the time. Alot of people struggle with timing on jumps and whoops and stuff like that. But most mx racers pick it up like nothing. And understanding how to set up the vechicle.
Alot of people say I have picked up speed really quick and I can see that I have. I am reallly liking nitro alot. This is my first summer of Nitro it feels alot more like mx.

I'm 15 and have been racing for 11 years now, I never had any bad injuries until 2007 when I was riding on a neighboring farm when I went over a blind hill and hit a tractor at 40mph. I broke my femur, tibia, and fibula. It shut the growth plate down in my angle fully and my knee partially. So far I've had 4 surgeries and just found out that I need a 5th next month and this is now four years later. I still race on and off and am still wining races but since that I have gotten into rc much more and have started building a track on our farm.

Default motocross

Like you rider 313 I have retired from motocross and do a little RC racing. I starded racing motocross at the age of 7 & finished at 31. I am now 40. I have broke many bones including my femur, re-constructive knee surgery etc. so I know how you feel, motocross was awesome. I still ride a 2008 YZ 250 2 stroke but mostly because my 6 yr. old is racing a KTM 50 and my 10 yr. old is racing a KTM 65 and 85. I still like throwing a roost on them now and then. Malcom what yr. did you race Ponca City? I raced the 80 expert there, I believe in 83 OR 84? Anyhow RC has been a good time I enjoy the competition, although I am not all that good at it. I think it's a lack of time getting to practice. Well it's football time for my oldest so I'm off to watch practice. Good luck!

You also got nascar drivers and other racing sports with people who race or run rc. Im not sure who exactly races but i know alot of nascar guys love to play with them. Now for me ive never done much racing, I done some bmx but not much. But i have been around quads and dirtbikes for a long time now. No bad carashes but i was ganna pick up kart racing but with parents not having the cash to keep it up i only got a lil practice. I did get ran over by a kart though causing a broken color bone, road rash and dislokated fingers.
