help please. flywheel/

Ok. This is going to be hard to describe but i will do my best. I have a new jpx .21. Well, after i tighten the flywheel it has a lot of resistance when i turn it. THe piston is moving up and down, but it's almost like i can feels all the balls in the bearings dragging. Maybe like the flywheel is rubing up against the crank case? It's hard to explain, but its only when i tighten it, and it's alot of jaggy resistance.

I'd go with that..Put a different collet on or more shims behind it and see what happens.

anyone? Is it the bearings not being seated properly?

+ 2

+3.... Put a shim behind the collet

dreaux 08-21-2010 06:12 AM

that's not it.

dreaux 08-21-2010 06:15 AM

it's almost like when you tighten the flywheel, the outer edge of the crank is hitting/rubing on the outer cage on the rear bearing. I cannot describe how frustrating this is.

inferno13 08-21-2010 06:23 AM

so you did try a new collet?

dreaux 08-21-2010 06:27 AM

bad front bearing.

really? your NEW engine came with a bad bearing?

dreaux 08-21-2010 06:42 AM

yup. took the crank out and the balls are catching inside the bearing. I have been looking foward to running this motor for 2 weeks for this weekend and a BAD bearing. UNBELEIVABLE. I thought ITALIAN motors were SO HIGH quality.

What a joke

Return to sender,I say, excellent build quality, but use cheap bearings??

dreaux 08-21-2010 07:56 AM

it's been taken care of. I do agree that picco has really good quality stuff. Better then the o.s. i run. Just one of those things. Just sucks it happened ot me.

Tough break dude but it can happen. Bearing manufacturers make millions of the things and a bad one is going to slip through every now and then. Glad to hear it's being taken care of for you.

try a new collet first , sometimes an improperley angled collet/flywheel will pinch the bearings together and wear them out very very quickly :tire:

not all italian mills are the same ;)
