i just get in practice mode, in practice im just trying to hit the same line and not crash bc there is no one really cornering. then in the main i start pushing and wrecking because im not used to going fast on the track, its weird, i just like going out cold and just going all out. my first qual is always my throw out lol

well last year 2009 i spent around about 13000NZD. 10000US

but i bought a heap of new cars. new buggy, had to get myself into this short course buzz with a sc10. a heap of radio gear. i have 12 spare servos . 21 sets of tyres(my last set of bowties on my buggy lasted approx 2 months(3 race meets)

alot of pit gear. my own table, generator. power points built into my table.
only frame part i've bought is a vppro Vwing. i havnt broken my 808 in over a year. shows xray is just great.

grabbed about 3 go engines... funny story as the first one... still is going strong on 9gallons. other 2 are still in their box.
also have a speed, werks b6.got given the b6(was new) and had the speed for ages.

I almost wish sponsors would stop sponsoring people. It carries an arrogance with it and the unsponsored guys have to try and keep up with those that are. It can drive the newbies out of racing. That said I probably wouldn't turn down a sponsor lol.

As for my budget i guess i don't really have one. However, I'm a penny pincher and only willing to spend so much on a toy car. When I first got in this i really struggled with the costs even tho the money is there. Lately i've been having so much fun with it that it hasn't mattered too much. Just take care of life's necessities first and put some in savings and whatever is left spend it on entertainment. If your paycheck to paycheck racing your priorities are probably wrong. IMHO.

My budget comes directly from my sponcer (my wife). I get new parts when they are approved.

I buy a lot of used parts to keep costs down. But dont keep a total on what i spend, thats probably a good thing.

+1 agree with you, on that point plus just think about it this hobby/sport is way cheaper than a real suped up racecar.

+1

Most of my gear is bought 2nd hand, from servos to engines to my latest buggy. Only thing I buy new are parts that break, tyres, plugs, filters etc.
