I have a feeling this year worlds is gona be won by a no Name driver with a budget car, as the political situation in the country isn't the best, and lot of the top drivers will not be making it there due to safety. so all you people driving the low buck cars will be happy. As this will be like me Making the A-main at the nationals, as long as all top drivers don't show i can make it.

I talked to Maifield Wednesday night and he said everyone is going to the worlds. I dont know about Canada but all the top drivers will be there and some are there testing now.

What? Are you talking to a different Andrew? I've run the car every weekend full races and usually an hour or two of practice every weekend, the TKI and the SE.

I don't think it matters as much as he thinks it does. If the other cars/parts were manufactured in the USA it would...but they aren't. I don't believe there is that much of a disparity between the value of the USD compared to the Yen and the USD to any other major currency, respectively.

I'm so new to the hobby that I haven't developed any brand loyalty yet but I'm reasonably sure that Kyosho isn't just pricing their products arbitrarily. They probably aren't making much more than anyone else per kit. That being said I certainly wouldn't shell out that kind of money (for that car)unless the car came exactly as I would want it(unlikely for anyone, especially those with more experience than me).

In the admittedly little I've seen of the different reputable brands I haven't seen any gaps in quality that could justify large price differences. Sure every brand seems to have things they do well and things they utterly fail at but most of those seem to be solved by third party parts or ingenious people.

I look forward to someone discovering what makes this car fancy enough for the price tag...and it could be something as simple as their quality control costs.

the most interesting thing I noticed is some ppl taking about Chinese cheapos.. please rembmer, you guys ASKED for that cheap price. if you wanna pay 5000 bucks for a 1/8 buggy roller, China will make the best quailty one. it doesn't matter WHERE it is made, it is how much YOU (most of you) want to pay for it. very simple economics and marketing sutff.

a low budget car won the last worlds and as a matter of fact had 4 or 5 drivers in the finals... so us low budget drivers are already happy

And the 1,s that wish they could.

I'm not sure if anyone has made this point yet, but the original TKI was about $850 when it first came out. Then it was discontinued and returned at it's current price of $750. Didn't we do the whole "Kyosho is to expensive" thing when the MP9 was first released?

Of which none was bone stock, they had more mods and upgrades than what you actually get in the kit box, Mugen, Kyosho, Losi, xray and AE are all worlds capable racers without any extras...
