Yes it is priced higher than the TKI but look at the extras you get with it and start adding up the cost there, so if you break it down, kyosho have stripped away a few things so they can add in some parts that are beneficial to the racer.
its not killing the market, just kyosho's market share.

This car wil not be $900. Kyosho clearly states in the press release that the car will be cheaper than the original TKI. Amain has it posted at $900 to grab the extra $$$ from the people who need it first. They had the Mugen MBX6 selling for $750 before it came in stock. I know people who paid it!

The car will be around $900, hobby shops could proly sell it for $850, MAYBE if they want to get rid of the kit, since with tax will make the kit like $950-975. There's barely any mark up on a $800-900 kit, there's more of a mark up on the traxxas jato than on the mp9.

Agreed. They've been clobbered by Losi and to a lesser extent Mugen. The buggy market is ultra-competitive, if not outright saturated ATM.

Then again, if you're charging more than double what your competitors do, you need only sell half as many to make the same amount of $.

i think there needs to be a car thats a bad ass rtr vehicle. Like a losi 8ight 2.0 roller with say a mike truhe motor, 3pks, 7955tg servos, ofna blue starter box etc! all the top stuff for like 1600 dollars you know. Or do a thing like tower hobbies where you can build your kit with a discounted price but with more options(tower is limited on the kit things). Like the other guy said its hard to see this as a hobby because to get a decent vehicle its 2000 dollars.

Let me put this out there. Would you rather have a $900 kyosho or a $700 Durango 408?

From what has been leaked about the Durango, it would appear to be the superior product. The engineering in unique, it would appear to have all the "hop up" parts on it already (aluminum hubs, CF everything ect.) and it will have great support (A Main will carry all parts).

SO what would you rather have?
I would rather have a TRAXXAS they are the fastest thing on the track GO SLASH you can get a 4 pack of them for $900
Just joking if you got it and want it then I say spend it after ALL it is your $900 OH dont 4 get tax

Well I have been saying the TKI2 will not cost $900 and guess what?

I received an Email last night and the kit is now in stock in Japan.

The Kit is 61600 yen which is about $715
The Roller (which is built and hand checked by Kanai is 72592 yen which is $849 both prices include shipping. So there you have it, it can be found for less than the $900 people are throwing around.

Not too sure about that..... From the info I have got from our distributors that $715 is below cost, but we will see once they are in stock and shipping in the US

Well, I have an Email saying it is in stock in Japan and I can get it shipped to me today for a total of $715.00 shipped. Maybe state side it will be more, but it can had today from overseas for just over $700. It's a reputable place that I have bought many Kyosho parts from in the past.

Hi there!

Read a little of the debate, but i would like to say that here in Portugal the first TKI kit sell's at 724.149 USD and the SE kit at 566.123 USD, that of course with the current conversion EUR --> USD rates, so here i dont see a very high price, the MBX6 costs about 657.995 USD and the 808 2010 Spec about the same as the Mugen.

As far as quality wise, Kyosho has a very high quality standarts, the 808 is not as good , the Mugen on the other hand is very durable, i have one racing for almost a year now, and it has yet to break anything. My favourite brand is Kyosho, always have been since the MP6 International.

I agree the price on the U.S. is insanely high, but although the parts retail at a good price, i am suprised why they didn't go with the hard anodised parts, it seems that the standart parts are not holding up very well.

Overseas shipping/Customs/Duty fees/taxes/broker fees/fuel surcharges/dock fees/destination fees/ etc, etc add about 30% to the cost for USA dealers. So If the Kit cost $500 USD from Asia, It would be around $650 USD by the time it hits the distributors warehouse. Then add their profits and thats how the US pricing is determined.
