Default setup system help

hi there,

my brother recently got given a hudy setup system for his 1/10 electric touring car and he was looking for a video on his setup system when he came across this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RDMtoUspP3Y

i know it is not for touring cars but i race buggies so i watched it a few times.

And noticed that when he has the car setup on the system he doesn't have blocks underneath? I go by the hudy setup book and i made some 30mm blocks out of wood.

but do you think using it without the blocks will give a better reading? because i asked my dad and he reckons that i should use it without the blocks because then the setup system would act as the wheels?

what do you think?

many thanks

lewis

I don't use blocks with mine either. Seems to be working for me sp I stick with it.

cheers for the comment,

but do you fill the car up with fuel so it is ready to hit the track? would this make the reading more accurate?

many thanks

lewis

Use the blocks! That way you can duplicate your settings exactly.

Say your car handles awesome next race, but you break an arm. You rebuild. How can you be sure that you'll get the same settings again?

You can't get exactly the same camber again without knowing exactly what ride height and toe you had previously. The blocks take out the height variable and the toe plate takes out the other.

With the blocks your setting camber and toe at 30mm ht every time. Record your readings with the blocks. Also record your readings at ride ht with a full tank. That'll be the reading you use to compare to other racers setups.

Remember 2 degrees on the blocks may only be 1 at ride ht.
