Default Exhaust Gas Coolers? Good or Bad

I am looking at getting a gas cooler for my B6 in my MBX6 buggy and wanted to know if they work or not and if so which one do you recommend. Thanks.

I have the original RB. I took a temp at entry and exit ports and there was a 10* difference. Dont know if it translates to the tank, but that temp reading made me a believer.

Use the search, you will find some interesting topics about it and even one test with a heli. No use to start in this topic all over again.....

By itself, the cooler has an effect, but very minimal. It really takes a combination of things to get the most out of the car/engine. One thing I'm surprised few people do is put insulating tape on the tank facing the pipe.

No sense trying to "cool" the fuel from one end and heat it up from another...

What is this tape you are talking of and does it go between the pipe and tank? Thanks.

Hi Joe. Yes, it's a nomex/foil tape that you can get at any good hobby shop; I always put some on the tank, just because the pipe is barely a few mms away and fuel should be kept as cool as possible.

It's also good to use under your bodyshell to keep the pipe from melting it.

i tried one this weekend (a costume one made by a machinist) and it just made the tune more consistent threw out the main, didn't change anything, actually started running better at the end of the main then the beginning. i thought it was just bull crap to spend money on but now i say its worth the money. i would buy one.

its aluminuim tape you just, put about two strips of it on the side of the tank where the exhaust is trust me you dont want a hole in your tank lol.

i dont run any fuel filters or gas coolers, to me its just a another thing that can cause a leak.

Or just get a big roll of plumbers/pipefitters silver lagging insulation tape Same thing but you get a load more and useful for taping up new shells once sprayed

Yeah, they don't really do anything. I ran one tank with the fuel cooler and one tank without the fuel cooler and didn't notice a difference.

Thanks for all the info from everyone. I decided I will use the tape and a cooler as our temps are getting pretty hot around here and from all the comments it seems that it can't hurt having one.
