Default Shoe Goo Help

Ok so I have broken several bodies due to flex breaking the front and rear mount holes. I just got some shoe goo and custom paint on a new body. Im going to make the mount holes longer and that should help. How do I shoe goo these areas to make them more secure? Do you use the goo with rock tape, let dry and then drill holes?

I usually use drywall tape (the kind that looks like a grid) and line the sides of my bodies with that....and Shoe Goo over those. Same for the mounting holes. I just cut a square piece of tape....Goo it in place and use a razor blade to shave out the hole when it dries.

I don't always use drywall tape, especially on non-smooth surfaces. Shoe Goo all by itself works wonders ;-) I must have half a tube on an old body....held up great.

Dumb question, are you slotting your body holes to allow flex in the chassis?

How thick of a layer do you put on the body? Is it just as flexible as with no Shoe Goo on. I painted my body and have found that the paint gets rubbed off along the edges and where the body mounts are. I had originally put some aluminum foil tape by the pipe to protect from the heat and decided to put it around the rest of the body but it didn't stick the best after multiple uses. Next time I paint a body, I would like to use something else but wasn't quite sure what to use.

I have not used tape with shoe goo yet. I just use the GOO. Put it on pretty thick (get a big tube) and your body will last alot longer. Only place I dont put it too much on is the roof.

Brian bud shoe goo the whole thing. Buy one tube and just spread it on nice and thick. The WHOLE body. It will last forever.

I use my finger to smear it around the body. squirt a glob on the area you want to cover. warm it up alil bit with heat gun or Hdryer then spread with finger after spreading hit again with the HG or HD and it will level itslef and look really smooth and clean.

J2 savage and a side of steak sauce pro tip right there kiddd @!!!

+2

i use it on my truggy body also and those thing take one hell of abuse, can't afford not to use Goo on expensive paint job. One tube per body and use latex gloves or you will regret it later.

is there any good way to thin out shoe goo? This would probably make it easier to "paint" on

be careful with shoe goo. I used to use it but last two bodies had the paint lift because of it, one of mine and one of my dads. I wanna use heat shield tape just waiting for a certain one to come back in stock

NO shoe goo over here....Ive also found it to lift the paint.

I prefer silicone over shoe goo as it can be easily removed if need be and Wont peel the paint.
