I have used the Losi 2200 strter box batteries for over a year and they work very well. Recently I starts running 2 cars and my box is often used by other racers to start their cars so I needs a little more mah. I went to a venom 3200 30c battery and it's perfect. It's slightly heavier than the losi batteries but it goes all day no matter how many cars my box starts.

I haven't had any issues with the switch yet. Been using the same box with only blowing it out as maintenance. I also swapped all the wiring with deans wet noodle. The wire swap is necessary.

+1 good point Frank. You also don't want to use those traxxas connectors. Get a large set of deans plugs

Same. Just unplug it when you aren't using it to be safe. I had the voltage dip a good bit with the switch off and battery plugged in. :\

im going to make the order tonight but im starting to think 40c is a bit to much and not needed for a starter box so i might go for a Turnigy 3000mAh 4S 30C LiPo.

any battery must be unplugged if not used as there will always be some drain through most of the power switches used in RC. Lipo or no Lipo all can be damaged as it is not much fun saving nimh with 0volts

I'm using two Trinity 5000 2s hardcase packs with a Dean's Y harness. Also rewired my box beforehand, no switch. I've tried 4s before, nothing but problems. I rigged my 2s packs out of necessity one day as the NiMh I had been using for over a year finally gave up. I start three vehicles on race day no problems and have broken in 3 Alpha Plus engines, which are known to be uber tight.
