ive got one of those brother labelling machines coming that will print stickers like that so might be worth a go..i can make a bunch of them up and change them when i do the oil..if i remember haha.

ive found some oil based food dyes (glycol) whether it works or not i dont know.

It doesn't have to. It's not your car. I have seen people take a small piece of masking tape and fold it over the shock spring and write it on there. Doesn't get in the way and the ink stays longer than on aluminum.

yes im going to try that thanks for the suggestion

as i said i have one of those label making machines on its way,they print on 6mm wide plastic strip that is sticky backed and laminated so hopefully that will do as you suggested.

be ok for anti roll bars too

The preload is threaded all the way up the shock. Prob freshly cleaned and not set back up yet. Thats my guess.
