.28 too tight to turnover help please
 

I have a TT ST-1 with the factory .28. I was on the last segment of the break in procedure when it wouldn't start back up. Pull,pull,pull and spring breaks. Obtain new pull start assembly from TT Ace Hobby and when I put the bearing in the pull start and slide it on the shaft the backplate stops a few mm away from the engine face. If I tighten the screws up to secure the pull start it won't pull out. If I leave the screws loose it will turnover without the plug in, with the plug in the compression is so tight I fear I may rip the cord out. Is the engine toast or still just real tight from being new? Have about 5 tanks through it.

I was going to try another pull starter but it won't matter with this super tight compression.

try loosing the glow plug to get it started then tighten it back up

Pre heat it before trying to start.

Any reasons as to why the pull start binds up when secured to the engine face? It will do this without the plug being in. I have to keep the screws so lose they'll likely fall out.

I may try LHS for another pull start assembly

unless i misunderstand you had th back plateof?if you did make sure the piston is up when you tighten the backplate or you could break the piston

I had to replace the one way bearing in mine and first time i put it on backwards and the backplate wouldnt fit tight to the the engine. Flipped it around and it fit snug like it should. Just something for you to think about... To check it turn the engine over a little and the flywheel should move counter clockwise (top moving to the left) when you face the flywheel side of the motor.

Got it!

Used two Tiger Drive shims and dremeled the lower ears off and it's good to go! Break in is complete and my son and I will work on the fine tuning.

Noticed that we sheared off the mounting screw for the front tourqe rod after smashing into a 4x6 upright wooden beam head on with no ill effects other than the screw. Picked one up at B&B Hobby here in town along with a fuel filter.

These newbies and their new TT ST-1 are ready to rock with a fireworks and nitro filled 4th of July !
