This may seem like a backward way to shop for a truck but here goes...

I have a friend at work. He's an older fella who hasn't been into RC for 20 years.

He asked me to find him a Monster truck that he can put a "Gravedigger" body on and play around in the yard, at the beach, at the park etc... He is not interested in racing.

I thought maybe Losi's Aftershock? He likes the idea of Nitro, doesn't have any existing R/C tools or remotes..

I see they make a Gravedigger lexan Body for 1/8th scale trucks.

Think this will be a good buy for him? Its not super expensive either.

I would suggest a crawler. He sounds like he isn't going to be all about going to find a good area to run a big nitro powered truck. The maintenance is going to be a challenge for him with nitro if you go that route. A nice 1/10th crawler would look sweet and scale looking with grave digger body on it. Losi makes a nice crawler and the maintenance isn't going to be difficult. It also can be run almost anywhere (small areas/big ones).

P.S. There is a smaller 1/10th scale painted version of that body available on the same site.

This is the same thing but the wheels and tires would make it more authentic.

You probably want to ask this question in the Monster Truck forum: http://www.rctech.net/forum/monster-trucks-46/

My answer to your question is the Savage. If your buddy wants to build one then the X SS is a perfect kit. If he just wants to pick up and play then the 4.6 or XL are great choices.
