in my opinion only the hyper series are track worthy. 7,8,8.5, or 9 all the rest have too much ground clearance, and do not handle well on tracks..they are made more for bashing

Scratch the ofna and get the hotbodies buggy if you on a budget.

Philly is spot on with his advice. If you do go with a ready to run, I would suggest the c-hub not pillow ball hyper 7 over the 8.5. It is easier to get dialed in and if you lay a flat pack receiver battery down on the mud guard as far forward as you can get it and attatch it with some zip ties or other clever secure method, it will turn and burn at the club level. Your big issue is going to be servos. You have to be in the high $80's to $115 to get one that is worth having for any racing and as you get better at driving, you will need a good throttle servo and transmitter if you dont already have one. So the D8 kit would be best if you can afford it.

Before you bash the Ofna Picco buggy too much here i have to get my 2 cents in... I run it and its based off of the 9.5 chassis and it does sit higher then most stock. But with some work on the suspension ive been able to get it to handle very well on our club track. Plus the engine that comes with it absolutely rips around the track with many of the racers really impressed with the buggy and how it handles (i know its not me since this is my first year and i need alot of improvement! lol) It does need two servos and a good radio/receiver before you race tho as it does come with the notoriously bad Ofna servos in it! If you get a chance to drive some of the other racers buggies and see what feels good in your hands and go from there. I dont regret getting my Ofna buggy at all tho!!
