I always keep a few sets of Crimefighters in my box of tires...Those work very well on most of the tracks we have here in West MI..

I find that Calibers can be a handful. Very twitchy in buggy. Excellent in truggy.

I think I'm the only one at any of the tracks around me that I've seen, or even heard of, running XTR compound. I mainly got them as long wearing practice tires. They grip well for me, but I haven't tried a softer compound in that same tire tread yet.
From what I've seen from the pros running 45min mains, even they run the soft or medium/medium-soft compounds from AKA, JC, etc. during those long mains. I still don't see anyone running XTR.

I love Calibers on my truggy, but I haven't tried them in buggy yet. I'd like to, but have way too many buggy tires to run through first.

If the temp gets really hot and/or the track is abrasive, you will see the pros run xtr (or equivalent) for sure. There are some track conditions where a medium or soft tire wont last a tank.
