well i bought a reedy 121 vr just got about a gallon through it now any way was running fine saturday but yesterday i pulled my whole car apart to clean it and changed over from the 2 head shims to the single thick one and now i cant get the motor started it will fire but dies allmost immeaditly engine still has great pinch and compression do you think its just carb settings or could i have done simething wrong installing the single shim? i went back and put the original 2 in but still no luck any help is appreaciated just need to figure this out i have a race this weekend and need to either get this one back going ro buy a new motor? thanks

read stock needle settings 3 1/2 hsn and 2 1/2 lsn but the engine still wont fire ive also tryed 2 different plugs but still nothing

can you see fuel in the fuel line? there should be no bubbles in it, if there are, you have a leak in one of the lines and it is sucking air.

If you had the piston/con-rod out for some reason, there's a chance the piston was re-installed backwards. If not that, I'd look for air leaks or fuel delivery problems otherwise.

+100, I know, I did it in a hurry one day, LOL. Then I saw someone at the track struggling with the same thing. The skirt of the piston should be in the rear. If this is the problem just switch it and you'll be good to go.

I've done it too. Couldn't figure out why my engine just wouldn't run below half throttle!

well bouht mine brand new, got over just a gallon, put in the other shim and motor runs great, i am rollin off at 205 and my pit guys are shocked, they even grabbed another temp gun to verify, they are still scratching their heads, best motor for the buck, esp when i was running rb engines, so i had to buy one more reedy for back up

I was about to change my head shims out last night to. But, 3 of the 4 head screws came out. The 4th wouldnt budge no matter what I tried. And now the head is stripped. Something had to give. Any suggestions on what to do now. I have a big RCPro series race this weekend at IndyRC and really want this engine to be ready.

use a dremmel/drill and remove the head of the screw...then take of the head of the engine and you should be able to see 1mm of screw left.
Either take it with pliers or dremmel a slot and use a flat head screwdriver.

go find a ez out that fits fairly tight in the screw head either thatr or sometimes you can drivE A TORX into it and break it loose

Hey Slapaho so what was your issue with you engine? I have a spare thats a pain to fire up right now.
