Default Newbie with running issues

Hello,

My name is Dan and i've recently got a Hot Bodies Lightning GT 10 with a HPi 3cc engine.

This is my first nitro RC and i got it off my brother in law who has had the car for just over a year.

I've had the car for about a month and used it only a couple of times. usually fine but sometimes it randomly stalled but that seems to of cured itself??

The issue...
The car starts fine and revs ok on light throttle but when i try and open throttle right up it cuts out. I took the car to a model shop in Leeds, who say they carried out a 'set-up' on the engine.

I've got the car back and its doing exactly the same as before it went in! It smokes alot (blue) when revving but still cuts out on full throttle.

How do i sort out the issue without travelling back to Leeds and wasting another 12 on a 'set-up' that clearly hasnt solved my issue??

I'm using Byron 20% Nitro fuel. I've seen there are 3 tuning needles? on the carb looking at the manual but i wouldn't have a clue where to start so i've not touched them.

Thanks for any help/advice

Dan

You're too rich, research and learn to tune before you run the car again....

Wish i was rich! lol.

I've read the tuning bible, digested what i could and had a go at tuning!

Now, the car runs better. It seems to be getting full throttle with controller on 95%. When i put the the controller to 100% it cuts out straight away but without the revs increasing. Could that be my servo not setup correctly?

To be honest, i might take it to a model shop here in York. The chap there this morning appeared to know what he was talking. He could of been talking the talk just to sound good, i dont know.

My friends RC needs to go in for a repair as he'sjust clipped a stone where we've been with the cars just now. front suspension collapsed now. :-(
