How much to you guys tighten your servo saver? Lately i have been tightening mine almost all the way and was wondering how much is safe. I have a 7955.

that is pretty much what i thought. How often do you have to replace the spring? doesn't it lose it's spring after a while?

i never actually notice if the, steering saver spring looses its tention.

I would also like to chime in for the same question as the OP. I was out driving one day and noticed my steering got noticably 'loose'. So I picked it up with it still on and I can turn the wheels pretty easy and the spring just acted like it was loose. So I tightened it some and it seemed to help the steering problem.

So my question would be the same, just how much to tighten it? All the way?

i would say intill theres a little bit, of play but never fully tighten the steering saver your servo wont last long.


but its a driver prefence thing and feel.

i can tighten it all the way and the front steering moves freely (without the servo attached). So why does tightening it make it harder on the servo.

It makes it harder on the servo when you go through ruts or catch a pipe and that sudden jar on the front wheel goes through the steering rod, into the servo saver which is designed to flex. When you tighten it all the way down that shock and stress goes on through your servo saver and into the servo putting stress on the gears and motor.

got it. Get tighter steering at the expense of your equipment.

so when it's lose the spring absorbs most of the shock, and the steering is loose.

Correct so you have to do some playing around and find a happy medium between good steering and the servo saver working correctly.

for some odd reason mine are different on each kit same manufacture I adjust until I feel just enogh tension. Make sure you folks check those bearings a lot of people forget about those

I have found a loose servo saver can give you a mid corner push. I just had this issue and went through my set up and after 1.5 hours I tightened it down and it went away. Just my experience.

yes a loose servo saver sucks.

Once you find the desired place for the set screw on your servo saver run a bead of CA glue around the top of the tension adjustment ring. You will still be able to move the ring if you need to but never have to worry about it backing off on its own
